摘要: A flatwire assembly includes a pair of elongate flatwire segments that are interconnected with a thin, flexible patch that overlies the opposed longitudinal ends of the segments. Conductive traces on the bottom face of the patch are electrically connected to the respective conductive traces of the segments by solder layers that, upon reflow under heat and pressure, respectively extend past an edge of the patch, whereupon visual confirmation of the solder joints between the traces of the patch and the segment is readily obtained. A layer of a thermally-activated or pressure-sensitive adhesive is disposed between the patch and each segment to further mechanically couple the patch to each segment during solder reflow. Longitudinal extensions of the patch substrate are bonded by the adhesive layer to respective portions of the segments farther removed from the segment ends than the solder layer extensions provide enhanced strain relief.

摘要: An apparatus for assisting with measurement of a fluid pressure includes a cover layer having a leading cover edge and upper and lower cover surfaces. A cover aperture fluidly connects the upper and lower cover surfaces. A spacer layer has oppositely facing upper and lower spacer surfaces. A cavity has an upper cavity surface, defined by the lower cover surface, which includes the leading cover edge and the cover aperture. A measuring tube is located adjacent to the upper cover surface. The measuring tube includes a tube lumen. When the lower spacer surface is connected to the substrate, the substrate defines a lower cavity surface and extant fluid is present within the cavity. Variable fluid flowing toward the cavity exerts pressure on the extant fluid to generate an extant fluid pressure level which is physically transmitted through the apparatus and made available for measurement as an extant fluid pressure level.

摘要: A robot system having various work stations and control means which allows recognition of the identity, position and geometry of a plurality of the work stations and assures movement of a robot manipulator among the work stations without its colliding with them even if new work stations are substituted for original work stations or if work stations of substantially different geometry are moved from one position to another. In a particularly advantageous aspect of the invention, the control means of the robot system derives its operating and clearing procedures from information fed to it from intelligence, or code, that is specifically associated with each of the work stations. This arrangement allows rapid set up of a laboratory robot to perform any of a large number of combinations of events. It also makes it practical to provide a robotic system to the customer which can be practically pre-programmed to "hand" sample-associated data from work station to work station, thereby effectively tracking such sample parameters as volume and mass.
