摘要: A multi-layered gasket for a combustion engine having a plurality of active and spacer gasket layers that are removably secured together is disclosed. The active layers are arranged in face-to-face engagement with the spacer layers in an alternating manner. The spacer layers may be selectively removed or added to vary the compression ratio of the engine. Alternatively, spacer layers may be selectively substituted with additional spacer layers having differing thincknesses to selectively vary the compression ratio of the engine. Retaining mechanisms for removably securing the gasket layers together are also disclosed.

摘要: A ruggedized PCMCIA card (PC card) connection adapter device includes a rigid housing having a PC card interface assembly and a external component interface assembly. Each interface assembly extends through an associated exterior surface of the housing, and the assemblies are linked to allow transfer of input/output signals therebetween. The PC card interface assembly includes a linking member sized and shaped to fittingly engage the PC card socket of a host computer. A gasket member disposed on the linking member provides a seal between the PC card socket and the linking member when the connection adapter is in place. The connection adapter also includes a locking means by which the device may be selectively secured to a host computer.

摘要: An x-ray lithography method for irradiating an object (14) to form a pattern thereon uses an x-ray mask (10) having a membrane (18). The membrane (18) has an open membrane surface (26), and x-ray radiation (16) is passed through the open membrane surface (26) to irradiate the object (14). During this irradiation, the open membrane surface (26) is substantially uniformly exposed to the x-ray radiation (16) so that stress-induced distortion of the membrane (18) is reduced.

摘要: Method of and apparatus for heating or cooking a food product packaged within a container by using heated air. The oven apparatus includes a substantially closed-loop heated air system that starts with a blower that blows air into a heating barrel where a heating element heats the air to a high temperature. The heated air exits the heating barrel, passes through an air flow channel in the oven's door, and enters the oven's heating chamber. The heated air passes through the container inside the heating chamber and heats the food product within the container. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the heating chamber is rotated while the heated air passes through the container to tumble the food product and ensure even heating thereof. The air exiting from the food product container enters a recirculation chamber which directs the air back into the blower to repeat the cycle. Heated air is recirculated through the food product container for either a fixed period of time, or until the temperature of the air exiting from the container reaches a predetermined value. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the oven includes a central processing unit that is programmed to control the oven's overall operation based on signals received from various transducers, e.g., a door switch, various temperature sensors, an air flow switch, and product-in switch. Also disclosed are various embodiments of containers that are particularly adapted for heating food products by utilizing the oven apparatuses of the present invention.

摘要: A dam, positioned behind the sickle blades on the cutter bar of a combine, prevents rocks and dirt from entering the combine and saves grain pods, prematurely dislodged from the stem, from falling from the combine header platform onto the ground. The grain-saver dam may be made in sections, bolted together loosely, so as to flex with the flexible cutter bars utilized on today's combines, or may be of one piece for use with a rigid cutter bar.

摘要: Mask-to-wafer alignment in X-ray lithography is advantageously carried out utilizing zone plate marks formed on the mask and wafer. In practice, it has been observed that the intensity and in some cases even the location of the centroid of the light spot formed by a zone plate mask can vary during alignment as the mask-to-wafer spacing is changed. The present invention is based on the discovery and analysis of the causes of such variations. Based thereon, applicants have devised a modified mask structure which, when used with a wafer in a zone plate alignment system, enables mask-to-wafer alignment to be made more easily and more reliably than was possible heretofore. The modified mask structure includes a localized blocking layer over each zone plate on the mask. This layer allows only a negligible portion of the light employed to illuminate the zone plates on the mask to propagate into the mask-to-wafer space. Also, the modified mask structure includes an antireflection layer that reduces interference effects between light spots imaged by the wafer zone plates and light reflected from the mask. Further, one layer of the modified mask structure is designed to have a quarter-wavelength thickness thereby minimizing interfering light reflected from that layer.

摘要: A gasket includes an intermediate layer having resilient sealing beads flanked by stopper beads. The three-layer gasket, particularly designed for heavy duty racing engines, provides a relatively robust cross-section in web-areas between cylinder bore apertures. A thin bottom layer includes wrap-around flanged portions extending about cylinder bore edges of the intermediate layer to partially overlap cylinder bore aperture areas of that layer. The flanged portions may include a plurality of waves to increase forces to generate the seal. A thin top layer overlies the intermediate layer, as well as the overlapping portions of the bottom layer. In one described embodiment, the overlapping portions are limited to cylinder bore edges between cylinder bores. As a between-engine-overhaul indication of engine health, the top gasket layer is adapted via plastic deformation to form a permanent indentation in an aluminum cylinder head to signal excessive engine operation.
