Abstract: In a dual network link scenario, a wireless network may provide a user equipment (UE) with a measurement configuration indicating multiple inter-frequency measurement objects during an off duration of a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle configured on a first network link. The UE may assign the inter-frequency measurement objects to a second network link if the second network link has an always-on configuration. Alternatively, if the second network link has a DRX configuration, the UE may perform some inter-frequency measurement activities on the first network link and assign some inter-frequency measurement objects to unoccupied gap occasions in the off duration for the DRX cycle configured on the second network link. In this way, the UE may save power by spending more time in a low power state, and mobility performance for the UE may be improved by increasing the efficiency and reliability of inter-frequency measurement activities.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The method, systems, and devices may include techniques for establishing a first connection with a first cell operating in accordance with a first radio access technology (RAT), and performing a beam sweep procedure for one or more candidate beams for adding or handover to a second cell operating in accordance with millimeter wave (mmW) RAT. The beam sweep procedure may be performed based on previous beam measurements stored in a measurement database. The techniques may further include selecting a beam from the one or more candidate beams for adding or handover to the second cell based on the beam sweep procedure, and adding or handing over to the second cell by establishing a second connection with the second cell using the selected beam.

Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided in connection with improving antenna selection for a UE as part of an access procedure. In an example, a UE with two or more antennas is equipped to obtain receive chain measurements for the two or more antennas associated with the UE when an access procedure is initiated, select an antenna, of the two or more antennas, for transmission based on receive chain measurements for use during at least a portion of the access procedure, and perform the access procedure using the selected antenna. In another example, the UE is equipped to determine that an Access procedure is to be initiated, select an antenna from the two or more antennas based on a selection algorithm, and perform the Access procedure based using the selected antenna.
