Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may establish one or more wireless connections for different subscriptions with a base station. The UE may receive an indication of a temporary mobile subscription identifier (TMSI) from the base station during a registration procedure. The UE may calculate a paging occasion (PO) based on the TMSI and may determine the PO fails to satisfy a threshold timing value. The UE may transmit one or more registration request to trigger additional registration procedures in which base station may transmit a new TMSI. The UE may calculate an updated PO based on the new TMSI. The UE may periodically receive one or more paging messages from the base station in a set of POs based on calculating the updated PO.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may be configured with two subscriber identity modules (SIMs). The UE may select a synchronization beam associated with a random access occasion of a first SIM based on the random access occasion not overlapping in time with a reception opportunity (e.g., a paging occasion) of the second SIM. In some examples, the UE may select the synchronization beam based on an identified signal quality of the synchronization beam (e.g., in comparison to other available synchronization beams that are non-overlapping with the reception opportunity). The UE may perform a random access procedure (e.g., using the first SIM) during the random access occasion associated with the selected synchronization beam and, in some cases, may also monitor (e.g., using the second SIM) resources associated with the paging opportunity.
Abstract:
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a multi-subscriber identity module (SIM) user equipment (UE) may communicate, using a first SIM, on a plurality of component carriers. The multi-SIM UE may select a first subset of component carriers from the plurality of component carriers based at least in part on a component carrier prioritization. The multi-SIM UE may identify an amount of memory available to a second SIM. The multi-SIM UE may tune away, based at least in part on the amount of memory available to the second SIM, from a second subset of component carriers The first subset of component carriers may be different from the second subset of component carriers. Numerous other aspects are described.
Abstract:
A user equipment (UE) configured for dual connectivity with a split bearer configuration may transmit uplink data packets to one or both a master cell group (MCG) and a secondary cell group (SCG). The UE may transmit an uplink transmission from a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) entity over one or both of a first radio link control (RLC) entity associated with the MCG and a second RLC entity associated with the SCG. The configuration including a transmit buffer threshold. The UE may receive, at the PDCP entity, an uplink switch start indication. The UE may activate the second RLC entity in response to receiving the uplink switch start indication. The UE may transmit a buffer status report according to a current transmit buffer level plus the transmit buffer threshold. Accordingly, the UE may communicate with the SCG based on the uplink switch start indication.
Abstract:
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may configure one or more radio frequency (RF) chains of the UE to communicate using a second radio access technology (RAT) for a length of time. The UE may identify that the length of time satisfies a threshold. The UE may configure the one or more RF chains to the first RAT. The UE may initiate a beam measurement on the first RAT in a number of consecutive measurement occasions based at least in part on the length of time satisfying the threshold. Numerous other aspects are described.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure are generally directed to extended signaling protocols for multi-subscriber identity module (MSIM) user-equipment (UE) for new radio (NR). For example, certain aspects provide a method for wireless communication by a UE. The method generally includes receiving a first message from a network entity enquiring regarding information associated with a multi-subscriber identify module (SIM) capability of the UE, determining the information associated with the multi-SIM capability of the UE in response to the inquiry from the network entity, and communicating one or more messages to indicate the information regarding the multi-SIM capability to the network entity.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided in connection with improving antenna selection for a UE as part of an access procedure. In an example, a UE with two or more antennas is equipped to obtain receive chain measurements for the two or more antennas associated with the UE when an access procedure is initiated, select an antenna, of the two or more antennas, for transmission based on receive chain measurements for use during at least a portion of the access procedure, and perform the access procedure using the selected antenna. In another example, the UE is equipped to determine that an Access procedure is to be initiated, select an antenna from the two or more antennas based on a selection algorithm, and perform the Access procedure based using the selected antenna. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.
Abstract:
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may measure a plurality of beams, from a base station, wherein the plurality of beams are associated with a corresponding plurality of monitoring occasions for a first subscription of the UE. The UE may determine whether a monitoring occasion for a second subscription of the UE collides with one or more of the plurality of monitoring occasions, for the first subscription of the UE, corresponding with the plurality of beams. The UE may transmit, to the base station, an indication of a selected beam, from the plurality of beams, based at least in part on the measuring and the determining. Numerous other aspects are provided.
Abstract:
A user equipment may, based on a tuneaway, start suspend a first timer and/or deactivate a first counter and may, based on a tuneback, resume the first timer and/or activate the first counter. The first timer and first counter may be configured to be used to determine that a sufficiently large number of sufficiently closely timed beam failure indications have been received and, in response to that determination, initiate an access procedure. A user equipment may also identify an overlap of a timing of at least one radio access technology event and a timing of a tuneaway gap and may, based on the identified overlap of the timing of at least one radio access technology event and the timing of the tuneaway gap, modify the timing of the at least one radio access technology event or the timing of the tuneaway gap.
Abstract:
The various embodiments include a dual-SIM-dual-active (DSDA) device and methods for implementing robust receive (Rx) processing to resolve radio frequency coexistence interference between two subscriptions operating on the DSDA device. The DSDA device may detect when a subscription (the “aggressor”) de-senses the other subscription (the “victim”) as a result of the aggressor's transmissions, and in response, implement robust Rx processing to mitigate the effects of de-sense on the victim while causing minimal impact to the aggressor.
