Abstract: The disclosure provides for reporting a channel quality indicator (CQI) in wireless communications. A user equipment (UE) may determine that a calculated CQI value to be reported in a current sub-frame is affected by a deterministic null scheduling on a downlink channel. The UE may determine a compensatory CQI value. The UE may report the lesser of the calculated CQI value and the compensatory CQI value in response to determining that the calculated CQI value is affected by the deterministic null scheduling. In an aspect, the deterministic null scheduling is associated with a compressed mode gap. The UE may determine whether the calculated CQI value is affected by the deterministic null scheduling by determining whether the current sub-frame is within a first time period before the start of the compressed mode gap or within a second time period after the end of the compressed mode gap.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may identify, while camped on a first cell associated with a first radio access technology (RAT), a power management level for a communication using a second RAT, wherein the power management level indicates an available power for the communication using the second RAT, and wherein the available power is based at least in part on an exposure rate or an absorption rate. The UE may delay a transmission of a measurement report on the first cell based at least in part on the identification of the power management level. Numerous other aspects are provided.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may allocate a first amount of power to one or more radios for a time window based on radio frequency (RF) exposure information and one or more other criteria. The UE may allocate a second amount of power to a selected channel or communication utilized by at least one radio of the one or more radios for one or more time frames within the time window based on the first amount of power allocated to the at least one radio for the time window. The UE may transmit the selected channel or communication based on the first amount of power or the second amount of power. Numerous other aspects are described.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may communicate via a first connection using one or more transmit parameters. The UE may determine to suspend subsequent attempts to communicate via a second connection, in a dual connection mode, based at least in part on satisfaction of a threshold number of failed attempts to communicate via the second connection. The UE may determine one or more parameters for suspension of the subsequent attempts to communicate via the second connection based at least in part on a determination that satisfaction of the threshold number of failed attempts is associated with one or more exposure conditions that are based at least in part on the one or more transmit parameters.
