Abstract:
An electrical isolator includes a flexible non-electrically conductive membrane and an inelastic flexible dielectric member journalled in the membrane and extending from the first end of the membrane to the second end of the membrane. First and second couplings are mounted to the ends of the dielectric member. The ends of the membrane are mated in sealed engagement with the couplings so as to fluidically seal the ends of the membrane and the dielectric member within the membrane. The membrane is filled with a dielectric fluid so as to displace any air in the membrane and the dielectric member. The couplings are adapted to couple to objects at opposite ends of the electrical isolator.
Abstract:
A method of using a temporary conductor as a re-usable tool in maintaining, repairing or re-conductoring at least one energized phase, includes stringing the temporary conductor between support structures at either end of a first section, then energizing the said temporary conductor by bringing the temporary conductor to the voltage potential of the phase and electrically paralleling the temporary conductor with the energized phase, de-energizing and then maintaining, repairing or reconductoring the de-energized energized phase, re-energizing and electrically paralleling said energized phase, de-energizing and removing the temporary conductor for later re-use as the re-usable tool in a second section of the energized phase.
Abstract:
A device is provided for supporting a permanent cable splice during installation of one or more connected electrical transmission cables. The device includes one or more liners adapted to be affixable over at least portion of the permanent cable splice including the ends of the splice and one or more sleeves mountable over at least a portion of each of the one or more liners. A method is further provided for installing electrical transmission cable including connecting the second end of a first cable to the first end of a second cable using a permanent splice, affixing one or more liners over at least a portion including the ends of the permanent cable splice, assembling one or more sleeves over at least a portion of each of the one or more liners, pulling the first cable, permanent splice and second cable over one or more sheaves along the installation travel path.

Abstract:
A system is provided for use with an insulated boom section of a bucket truck. The system includes a source of high volume and pressure, dry air; one or more interior air diffusers connected to the source of high volume and pressure, dry air to direct the air into an interior of the insulated boom section. One or more exterior air diffusers connected to the source of high volume and pressure, dry air direct the air to along an exterior surface of the insulated boom section. A method is also provided for cleaning or drying both the interior and exterior surfaces simultaneously of an insulated boom section of the boom of a bucket truck. The boom of a bucket truck is further provided in another aspect that includes at least one insulated boom section, a source of high volume and pressure, dry air, one or more interior air diffusers and one or more exterior air diffusers. A pre-heating air heater may be removably mounted into the boom.
Abstract:
Load-bearing apparatus/systems for location in the vicinity of energized power lines are provided. The apparatus includes a base member. The base member has an upper layer and a backing surface layer. An uppermost surface of the upper layer is adapted to support on it at least power line workers and/or related stringing equipment. At least the uppermost surface of the upper layer is adapted to be electrically conductive. Methods for forming the apparatus are also provided.
