The substrate and infrared light reflecting cholesteric liquid crystal layer have a combined haze value of less than 3%.

摘要: A multilayer film article is disclosed. The multilayer film article includes an infrared light reflecting multilayer film having alternating layers of a first polymer type and a second polymer type, an infrared light absorbing nanoparticle layer including a plurality of metal oxide nanoparticles dispersed in a cured polymeric binder and having a thickness in a range from 1 to 20 micrometers. The nanoparticle layer being disposed adjacent the multilayer film. The metal oxide nanoparticles include tin oxide or doped tin oxide.

摘要: An optical film includes an optical substrate and an adhesive first surface disposed on the optical substrate. The adhesive includes siloxane moieties at a siloxane-rich second surface of the adhesive. The adhesive increases adhesion when placed in contact with a second substrate over time. Optical film methods are also disclosed.

摘要: Microneedle arrays, methods of manufacturing microneedles and methods of using microneedle arrays. The microneedles in the microneedle arrays may be in the form of tapered structures that include at least one channel formed in the outside surface of each microneedle. The microneedles may have bases that are elongated in one direction. The channels in microneedles with elongated bases may extend from one of the ends of the elongated bases towards the tips of the microneedles. The channels formed along the sides of the microneedles may optionally be terminated short of the tips of the microneedles. The microneedle arrays may also include conduit structures formed on the surface of the substrate on which the microneedle array is located. The channels in the microneedles may be in fluid communication with the conduit structures. One manner of using microneedle arrays of the present invention is in methods involving the penetration of skin to deliver medicaments or other substances and/or extract blood or tissue.

摘要: A method for capping a stem web including passing the stem web through a first nip against a first heated nip roll so as to partially cap the stems; cooling the web; and passing the stem web through a second nip against a second heated nip roll to completely cap the stems to a diameter “D”. In preferred embodiments the two nips are on opposite sides of a larger central cooled roll positioned between the heated rolls. Preferably, the reaction forces between the rolls are measured and controlled at each end of each other heated rolls. The invention is particularly adapted to making abrasive particles that are attached to a driving mechanism via headed stem fasteners formed by the method.
