摘要: An apparatus for obtaining an image of a retina is described herein. The apparatus includes an optical relay that defines an optical path and is configured to relay an image of the iris along the optical path to a pupil, a shutter is disposed at the pupil and configured to define at least a first shutter aperture for control of light transmission through the pupil position, a tube lens disposed to direct light from the shutter aperture to an image sensor, and a prismatic input port disposed between the shutter and the tube lens and configured to combine, onto the optical path, light from the relay with light conveyed along a second light path that is orthogonal to the optical path.

摘要: A wearable display apparatus has a headset for display from left-eye and right-eye near-eye catadioptric pupil-forming optical systems, each defining an exit pupil. Each optical system has an image generator to direct image-bearing light for a 2D image from an emissive surface. A curved reflective surface along the view axis is partially transmissive and defines a curved intermediate focal surface. A beam splitter reflects light toward the curved reflective surface. An image relay optically conjugates the formed image with a curved aerial image formed in air at the curved intermediate focal surface. The image relay has a prism having an input surface facing the emissive surface of the image generator, an output surface facing the curved intermediate focal surface, and a folding surface between input and output surfaces for folding the optical path for light generated by the image generator. An aperture stop for the relay is within the prism.

摘要: A method of at-home monitoring of eye conditions using a head mounted display that is capable of establishing a visual model associated with a patient. The visual model may include data related to a quality of the patient's vision. The patient may use the system to establish a visual model periodically, such as daily, and the system may compare the visual model to previous visual models and send an alert to the patient's physician if changes meeting a given criteria are detected. This may allow the physician to immediately take steps to save the patient's eyesight where a delay in treatment may result in vision loss.

摘要: Techniques related to vision correction are disclosed. The techniques involve establishing a visual model associated with a patient. The visual model includes data related to a quality of the patient's vision. A boundary is established as a function of the data associated with the visual model. The boundary is indicative of an area to be corrected within the patient's vision. A retinal map is established as a function of the boundary. An image from a camera associated with the patient is captured and corrections are applied to the image based on the retinal map to generate a corrected image. The corrected image is presented to the eye of the patient.

摘要: A compact augmented reality (AR) display system is described herein. The AR display system includes an eyeglass frame and a pair of near-eye pupil forming catadioptric optical engines mounted to the eyeglass frame. The pair of near-eye pupil forming catadioptric optical engines are mounted to the eyeglass frame and spaced along the longitudinal axis. Each of the near-eye pupil forming catadioptric optical engines includes an image generator forming a 2D image, an optical imaging assembly, and an optical image relay assembly, which includes the image generator and the lenses or other optics to present the image correctly to the user. The pair of near-eye pupil forming catadioptric optical engines enable viewing the 2D image binocularly in 3D.
