摘要: The invention provides a system for artificial retinal prosthesis with color vision comprising an artificial retinal prosthesis implanted in a user's body. The artificial retinal prosthesis comprises a plurality of pixel units and a color shutter integrated with the plurality of pixel units structurally. The plurality of pixel units are used to receive an external visual image that enters the eyes of the user, and output a spatiotemporal electrical stimulation to the user's optic nerve according to the external visual image. The color shutter connects with the plurality of pixel units, and determines a spectrum that is allowed to enter the eyes to allow the user to generate a color image perception. By allowing stimulation of the artificial retinal prosthesis to vary with different spaces and times, and synchronously controlling the spectrum that is allowed to enter the eyes, thereby assisting the patient in obtaining color visual perception.

摘要: Intraocular apparatus is provided, having an anterior side and a posterior side, and configured for use with an extraocular imaging device. The intraocular apparatus includes a photovoltaic energy receiver, or an RF energy receiver, on the anterior side which receives energy from outside the eye to power the intraocular apparatus. Additionally, the intraocular apparatus includes a photodiode on the anterior side of the intraocular apparatus which receives data from the extraocular imaging device. An application-specific-integrated-circuit (ASIC) is positioned on the posterior side of the intraocular apparatus and includes (i) circuitry configured to process the data from the photodiode into an image, (ii) an electronic display, e.g., a light-emitting diode (LED) display, which emits light representing the image, and (iii) at least two through-silicon vias connecting the ASIC to the photovoltaic energy receiver and to the photodiode. Other applications are also described.

摘要: A system for producing a depiction of an image is provided. The present invention includes camera operable to capture an image and a laser projector operable to project a laser beam in an x and y direction. The present invention further includes a computer having a microprocessor and a memory. A software may be saved on the memory and may operate the computer to scan the image to locate edges of objects depicted in the image and direct the laser projector to project the laser beam along x and y coordinates of a plane. The x and y coordinates outlines the edges of the objects and thereby forms the depiction of the image.

摘要: A method of representing visual images by alternative senses is provided herein. The method includes the following stages: obtaining an image of an environment having a background and physical objects distinguishable from the background; slicing the image into a plurality of slices; identifying, for each slice at a time, and slice by slice in a specified order, if at least a portion of the physical objects being contained within the slice; applying, in the specified order, a conversion function to each identified portion of the physical objects for generating a sound or tactile object-dependent signal; associating a sound or tactile location-dependent signal unique for each slice; superpositioning, in the specified order, each object-dependent signal with a respective location-dependent signal for creating a combined object-location signal; and outputting the combined object-location signal to a user via an interface in a form usable for a blind or visually impaired person.

摘要: Visual impairment, or vision impairment, refers to the vision loss of an individual to such a degree as to require additional support for one or more aspects of their life. Such a significant limitation of visual capability may result from disease, trauma, congenital, and/or degenerative conditions that cannot be corrected by conventional means, such as refractive correction, such as eyeglasses or contact lenses, medication, or surgery. According to embodiments of the invention a method of augmenting a user's sight is provided comprising obtaining an image of a scene using a camera carried by the individual, transmitting the obtained image to a processor, selecting an algorithm of a plurality of spectral, spatial, and temporal image modification algorithms to be applied to the image by the processor, modifying the image using the algorithm substantially in real time, and displaying the modified image on a display device worn by the individual.
