摘要： A system and method for speed measurement of a mobile device using a speed which does not need to be continually activated. In one embodiment, there is provided a method for determining a speed of a mobile electronic device, the mobile electronic device including a speed sensor and an input device, comprising: determining whether the mobile electronic device is travelling at a speed in excess of a first threshold based on input from the input device other than speed determined by a speed sensor; activating the speed sensor to determine the speed of the mobile electronic device responsive to determining that the mobile electronic device is travelling at a speed in excess of the first threshold based on input from the input device; determining whether a speed of the mobile electronic device sensed by the speed sensor exceeds the first threshold in responsive to the activating; and performing an action responsive to the speed of the wireless communication device sensed by the speed sensor exceeding the first threshold.

摘要： An electronic device, such as a mobile communication device, and a method are provided for selective access to certain homescreen panels displayable by the device. The device is provided with a homescreen display, which includes a plurality of panels. The panels include at least one panel that is a fullscreen view of a first application executing on the device. This first application can be a messaging application, and the fullscreen view can be a unified inbox view for a plurality of different message types. The panels also include at least one launch panel having a number of graphical user interface elements, such as icons, representing access points to a corresponding application on the device. When navigating from one of the launch panels to the fullscreen view, an intermediate lock interface for receiving an unlocking input is displayed. The unlocking input is received before the fullscreen view is displayed.

In accordance with one embodiment, the method comprises: receiving a request to compose an electronic message; automatically filtering the contacts based on filter criteria comprising a type of the electronic message to generate a first list of contacts; displaying a message composition user interface screen on a display screen of the electronic device, the message composition user interface screen including one or more address fields for inputting message recipients; displaying the first list of contacts, the message recipients being selectable from the first list of contacts; and selecting a messaging address in accordance with selection of a contact from the first list of contacts and populating an active address field in the message composition user interface screen with the selected contact.

A first mobile station has first communications applications and a first PIN and a second mobile station has second communications applications and a second PIN. The method includes sending an invitation including the first PIN from the first mobile station to the second mobile station using one of the first communications applications, and sending an acceptance including the second PIN from the second mobile station to the first mobile station using one of the second communications applications. The method further includes creating first messages including the second PIN and sending them to the second mobile station through the wireless network, and creating second messages including the first PIN and sending them to the first mobile station through the wireless network. The routing server routes the messages based on the PINs.
