摘要： A circuit interrupter including a housing, separable main contacts disposed in the housing and rotatable between a contact open position and a contact closed position, and an operating mechanism disposed in the housing and interconnected with the contacts for rotating the contacts alternatively between the contact open position and the contact closed position. The operating mechanism includes a handle moveable by an operator between handle open and handle closed positions normally corresponding to and resulting in the contact open position and the contact closed position, with the handle including a protrusion. The operating mechanism further includes a crossbar assembly for rotating with the contacts as the contacts rotate between the contact open position and the contact closed position. The crossbar assembly includes a stop member that is positioned to abut against the protrusion as the handle is moved towards the handle open position when the contacts and the crossbar assembly remain in the contact closed position. The operating mechanism also includes a sideplate assembly having stops that prevent disengagement of the handle.

摘要： A molded case circuit breaker is taught with a housing base and a primary cover disposed on the housing base. The primary cover has a recess therein for an auxiliary module which is disposed in the recess. A secondary cover is disposed on the primary cover for covering the recess when the auxiliary module is disposed therein. A combination manual trip and secondary cover interlock is provided which is accessible from outside of the secondary cover for manually opening separable main contacts or for automatically opening separable main contacts when the secondary cover is removed. There is also provided on the back plane of the housing a single piece DIN rail attachment for securing the back plane to a DIN rail. There is provided an under voltage release mechanism for actuating the circuit breaker to trip on the occurrence of an under voltage condition of predetermined magnitude across the lines served by the circuit interrupter. The under voltage release mechanism has an adjustment spring which is controlled by a nut or thumb screw on a shaft to vary the spring force for calibrating the under voltage release mechanism. There is also provided a self-retaining collar member for the load and line terminals of the circuit interrupter. The collar member comprises a locating protrusion in the bottom thereof which aligns with a hole in the load or line conductors. Side entrapment members which entrap the line or load conductor therebetween and between the bottom of the collar member are also provided.

The operating mechanism includes a closed position, an open position, an operating handle for moving the operating mechanism between the open and closed positions, a movable contact arm carrying the movable contact, a linkage having a first end and a second end, and a snap lever. The second end of the linkage is pivotally mounted to the movable contact arm. The snap lever holds the linkage in the open position of the operating mechanism and releases the linkage as the operating handle moves from the open position toward the closed position of the operating mechanism, in order to snap close the separable contacts.

摘要： A molded case circuit breaker is taught with a housing base and a primary cover disposed on the housing base. The primary cover has a recess therein for an auxiliary module which is disposed in the recess. A secondary cover is disposed on the primary cover for covering the recess when the auxiliary module is disposed therein. In order to secure the auxiliary module underneath the secondary cover in the recess of the primary cover, the module has deposed thereon a locking protrusion which is complimentary with a locking opening in the primary cover. The locking protrusion is flexible and has a longitudinal central bulge so that as the protrusion is pressed inwardly into the opening, the bulge causes the flexible protrusion to reduce diameter due to the presents of longitudinal slots therein until the bulge has passed the opening in which case it springs outwardly toward its normal position thus securing the protrusion in the base. A flexible pull tab is provided for displacement under the auxiliary or secondary cover so that when the auxiliary or secondary cover is removed the pull tab may be tugged upon to remove the module from the primary cover by providing the reverse operation to the insertion operation previously described.

摘要： An electrical circuit interrupter comprising a housing with an operating mechanism disposed therein and including first and second separable main contacts disposed within the housing is taught. There is an electrically conducting first contact support which has a shape which substantially doubles back upon itself and which has parallel, spaced apart first and second legs forming a central region. An electrically insulating support member is supplied which is disposed in the central region and has a substantial portion outboard of the central region in a disposition to shield a portion of the contact support member. It also has a portion which captures the first contact support member. In addition, magnetic plates are disposed within the central region for cooperating with other closed loop magnetic plates outside of the support member for providing a slot motor action for the movable contact. An arc runner is provided which is trapped between the support member and the contact support conductor. All of this is disposed upon a protrusion in the housing of the circuit breaker and held in place by way of a securing device. Lastly, a mandrel is provided for supporting the aforementioned external magnetic plates. The mandrel is gas evolving so that under the influence of the heat of an electrical arc it evolves gas which helps to push the arc out and away from the opening contacts. The aforementioned gas propels the formed arc outwardly away from the contacts in an effort to cool and interrupt the arc.

摘要： A circuit breaker includes a housing, an operating mechanism and separable main contacts, and a rotatable crossbar which rotates to open and close the contacts. The crossbar interacts by way of a protrusion thereon with a rotatable, positive off-link. A handle mechanism is disposed in the housing and has a handle protruding from the housing which is normally movable from a closed to open disposition. However, if the operating mechanism has reacted in such a way as to open the separable main contacts but, in fact, they have not opened because, for example, they are welded shut, the protrusion on the crossbar will interact with the positive off-link and prevent the handle mechanism from moving to the opened position thus warning personnel that the contacts have not opened. There is also provided in association with the crossbar a cam which is spring loaded from the bottom against a portion of a cavity in a crossbar which interacts with a movable portion of the movable contact in such a manner as to latch it open when it has independently moved to an opened position relative to the rotatable crossbar. The cam rider reacts in such a way that it seals off or protects the aforementioned spring from gaseous arc products during the opening operation. There is provided on the trip mechanism a double pitch spring. The double pitch being such as to expand the range of the adjustment characteristic of the tripping mechanism.

摘要： A circuit breaker includes a housing, an operating mechanism and separable main contacts, and a rotatable crossbar which rotates to open and close the contacts. The crossbar interacts by way of a protrusion thereon with a rotatable, positive off-link.
