    摘要: The invention is directed to a self-expanding stent for implantation into a body lumen, such as an artery. The stent consists of a plurality of radially expandable cylindrical elements generally aligned on a common longitudinal stent axis and interconnected by a plurality of interconnecting members placed on the stent in a collinear arrangement such as to create at least one continuous spine which extends along the length of the stent. The invention is also directed to a stent delivery system for implantation of a stent in a vessel which includes an outer tubular member having a restraining sheath and an inner tubular member having a distal end which has a compressed stent mounted thereto. The proximal end of the inner tubular member is connected to a housing assembly which prevents the inner tubular member from moving when the outer tubular member is retracted to deploy the stent. The proximal end of the outer tubular member is attached to a pull-back handle which is slidably mounted on the base of the housing assembly. When the pull-back handle is retracted, the restraining sheath is retracted to deploy the sheath, while the inner tubular member remains stationary.

The stents consist of a plurality of radially expandable cylindrical elements generally aligned on a common longitudinal stent axis and interconnected by one or more interconnecting members placed so that the stent is flexible in a longitudinal direction. The cylindrical elements are generally serpentine wave pattern transverse to the longitudinal axis between alternating valley portion and peak portions, the valley portion including alternating double-curved portions and U-shaped portions. The interconnecting members are attached to the double-curved portions to connect a cylindrical element to an adjacent cylindrical element and interconnecting members are attached to the U-shaped portions to connect the cylindrical element to the other adjacent cylindrical element. The designs include an eight crown and six crown stent which exhibit flexibility and sufficient radial strength to support the vessel.

    摘要: An apparatus for treating vascular aneurysms includes an occlusive support device comprised of one or more support members. The occlusive device has, an end cap member and an anchoring member. The end cap member is comprised of at least one of one or more of the support members. The end cap member has openings and the end cap member comprises a reactive material that is configured to hydrate upon delivery of the device and to reduce the size of said openings. The device is configured so that the occlusive members can be positioned in the blood vessel proximate the neck of a vascular aneurysm, the reactive material hydrates and increases the resistance to blood flow into the aneurysm, and the anchoring member anchors the device in the blood vessel without occluding flow through the blood vessel.

    摘要: An intraluminal catheter customizable to accept various diameter guide wires is disclosed. The catheter has a large bore lumen for receiving a large diameter guide wire, and alternatively, for receiving an adaptor tube therein. The adaptor tube includes a small guide wire lumen for accepting smaller guide wires of various diameters. With the adaptor tube telescopically disposed within the large bore catheter, the distal end of the adaptor tube optionally projects beyond the distal end of the large bore catheter. To minimize any onset of snow plowing effects at the distal end of the catheter, the outside diameter of the adaptor tube is made to closely conform to the inside diameter of the large bore catheter. An end cap is tightly fitted to the proximal end of the large bore catheter. The end cap secures the large bore catheter to the proximal end of the adaptor tube by the latter's interference fit with a concentric stub tube on the end cap.

    摘要: A stent deployment system with a reinforced inner member is disclosed. The system has a self-expanding stent in a contracted condition disposed on the distal end of a delivery catheter and a retractable sheath covering the stent. The delivery catheter is advanced through a guide catheter to a desired location within a patient's body lumen. Once the stent is at the target site, the sheath is retracted by pulling back on the stem to expose the self-expanding stent. The reinforced inner member provides longitudinal compression resistance for the delivery catheter, while allowing for flexibility for navigation through a tortuous vasculature.
