摘要： A method and apparatus for forming high-speed water droplets takes advantage on a synergy of features disclosed by the present invention including a low Weber number in a chamber in which a liquid stream breaks up into droplets; a reduced break up distance for forming the water droplets by introducing turbulence into the liquid source, thereby providing a unit or tool that is of practical size; accomplishing the generation of high-speed water droplets without using a complex driver; reducing the liquid's surface tension thereby facilitating the creating of near spherical droplets; and maintaining the droplets in form until they strike the surface of a workpiece.

摘要： A dynamic variable geometry fitting system with fluid-filled bladders and automatically regulating their volumes to provide a continuously secure fit. This system can vary volume continuously to accommodate natural variation in an amputee's residuum. It makes reliable suction retention of a prosthesis easier for the prosthetist to achieve while reducing the potential for tissue lesions. By maintaining a continuous, secure fit, the amputee's sense of confidence and willingness to use the prosthesis increases.

摘要： A fall arresting device attached to a climber's safety harness having an open-sided elongated housing joined together near its center by a spindle, a drum rotatably mounted on the spindle, a clove hitch knot formed in a safety rope and tied around the drum, and a centrifugal clutch assembly on one end of the drum to halt rotation of the drum with respect to the housing plates if the rotation of the drum exceeds a predetermined rate. The housing is comprised of two housing plates which may be counterrotated about the spindle to "open" the device and allow the clove hitch knot to be tied around the drum. When the housing is "closed", by realigning the housing plates, and attached to a climbers harness via carabiners, the clove hitch knot may not be removed from the drum. When the climber pulls the device against the anchored rope at slow speeds, the clove hitch knot slips on the rotation drum and the device travels freely along the rope. If the climber should fall, the resulting high rate of travel of the device along the rope will activate the centrifugal clutch, causing the drum to stop rotating with respect to the housing and the clove hitch knot to tighten around the drum, thereby arresting the climber's fall.

摘要： A truss rod apparatus, for use within a stringed musical instrument, to correct both forward and backward bowing of the instrument's neck. The apparatus includes an elongate rod with an adjustor mechanism incorporating two axially oriented threaded sections of similar thread direction but differing thread pitches. In use, the adjustable rod is attached near its ends to a second elongate member. Turning the adjustor mechanism in either direction causes the threaded sections to advance at different rates, thereby causing a slight change in length of the rod. The change in length relative to the second elongate member, induces a bending force on the apparatus which in turn induces a corrective bending in the neck of the musical instrument into which the truss rod apparatus is embedded.
