摘要： The invention relates to a method of preparing compounds of the formula 1 and to pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. The compounds of formula 1 are antibacterial agents that may be used to treat various bacterial and protozoa infections. The invention also relates to pharmaceutical compositions containing the compounds of formula 1 and to methods of treating bacterial protozoa infections by administering the compounds of formula 1. The invention also relates to methods of preparing the compounds of formula 1 and to intermediates useful in such preparation.

摘要： Low calorie food products that contain highly crystalline bulking agents that impart improved texture and mouthfeel to the food products are described. The food products contain 1,4-anhydroglucitol or 1,4-anhydrogalactitol and a food ingredient. A method of preparing 1,4-anhydro-DL-galactitol comprising heating galactitol in a water-immiscible, high-boiling, reaction-inert medium in the presence of a mineral acid is also described.
