摘要: The method, device and system for electrical sealing of a puncture opening in a blood vessel wall. In a first embodiment, a vascular sealing probe has two bipolar electrodes formed thereon, is insertable to a position whereat the bipolar tip is adjacent the blood vessel puncture site to effect electrocauterization or electrocoagulation of the puncture site. In a second embodiment the bipolar vascular sealing probe has a first electrode formed thereon and an electrode-guide wire has the second bipolar electrode formed thereon. The electrode-guide wire is passable through a lumen formed in the probe such that the second electrode on the electrode-guide wire is positioned close enough to the first electrode positioned on the probe to permit electrical current to pass therebetween.

摘要: A multiple lumen access device for use in providing a single entry port into the human body for selectively introducing medical implements therethrough and for providing simultaneous auxiliary access into the body. The multiple lumen access device includes a multi-lumen sheath which may have an outer tube and structure defining a device lumen located therein. The inner structure may be an inner wall or inner tube. The outer tube and inner structure are located so as to define at least one auxiliary lumen. Some embodiments include flexible inner walls which can be flexed between relaxed and expanded/contracted positions wherein the relative cross-sectional areas of the device lumen and auxiliary lumens are varied. The access device further includes a valve which provides sealing of the device lumen. The valve may be provided in a lumen junction housing or separate from the housing either permanently or removably connected with the device lumen. Alternatively, a multi-lumen sheath may be passed through a valve leading to a conventional introducer. The valve may also be molded separately as a rigid insert and retained in a cavity formed in a flexible junction housing. In other embodiments, the multiple lumen access device is formed by introduction of the elongated implement coaxially within a tubular single lumen sheath.

摘要: A conduit for use with a blood pump can have a flared inner surface at an end of the conduit. In some embodiments, the conduit can include a strain relief member such as overmolded silicone. The strain relief member can maintain the profile of the flared inner surface. A conduit with a flared inner surface can be configured for connection to a blood pump via a connector. For example, the conduit can include an anchor member such as flange configured to engage with various components of a connector to connect the conduit to a fitting on a pump or another structure. In some embodiments, the conduit can be configured to connect to a blood conduit connector including a member such as a compression collet and a fitting such as a coupler. The connector can include a bayonet connection to facilitate rapid connection and disconnection of the conduit from a fitting.

摘要: An extracardiac pumping for supplementing the circulation of blood, including the cardiac output, in a patient without any component thereof being connected to the patient's heart, and methods of using same. One embodiment of the intravascular extracardiac system comprises a pump with inflow and outflow conduits that are sized and configured to be implantable intravascularly through a non-primary vessel, whereby it may positioned where desired within the patient's vasculature. The system comprises a subcardiac pump that may be driven directly or electromagnetically from within or without the patient. The pump is configured to be operated continuously or in a pulsatile fashion, synchronous with the patient's heart, thereby potentially reducing the afterload of the heart. In another embodiment, the system is positioned extracorporeally, with the inflow conduit and outflow conduit applied percutaneously to a non-primary vessel for circulating blood to and from the non-primary vessel or between the non-primary vessel and another blood vessel within the patient's vasculature.

摘要: A perfusion cannula system for directing blood through the vasculature of a patient comprises a cannula body having a proximal end, a distal end, and at least one lumen extending therebetween. The perfusion cannula system enhances blood flow past the cannula when the cannula body resides within the patient. A first balloon can be located on an exterior surface of the cannula body and the balloon can be deployed within the vasculature whereby space may be provided between a vessel wall and the cannula body. A cannula body can have an aperture formed therein in fluid communication with a lumen. A sleeve can be carried by the cannula and can be configured to be moveable relative to the aperture to selectively cover and uncover the aperture as desired.

摘要: An over-the-wire heat exchange catheter includes a heat transfer extension having at least one supply lumen and at least one return lumen for circulating heat exchange fluid within the catheter. The catheter has a distal tip and valve attached to the distal tip. The valve automatically seals the distal tip around a guidewire or a mandrel to seal the heat transfer extension and inhibit escape of the heat transfer fluid from the heat transfer extension.

摘要: A catheter according to the present invention includes a multiple lumen catheter for delivery of a liquid embolic composition through a first lumen and delivery of a solidification agent through a second lumen. The catheter allows adjustment of the relative longitudinal position of the two lumens to control the solidification of the embolic composition within a blood vessel. The multiple lumen catheter system is used by inserting the catheter endovascularly into an aneurysm site and injecting a liquid embolic composition through the first lumen while injecting a solidification agent through the second lumen to wash the area of the aneurysm of blood which has become saturated with solvent, while replacing it with a fresh solidification agent. The controlled solidification of the liquid embolic composition by use of the solidification agent allows the aneurysm to be filled precisely and rapidly even when the aneurysm is located such that gravity does not cause the liquid embolic composition to flow into the aneurysm.

摘要: A connector system is provided for use in priming a fluid circuit. The system includes a first connector and a second connector. The first connector is configured to couple with one end of a conduit. The first connector has a gas permeable membrane, a main lumen extending from the gas permeable membrane, and a second lumen. The second lumen has a first end configured to couple with a fluid source and a second end in fluid communication with the main lumen. The second connector is configured to couple with an end of a cannula. The second connector has an end configured to be inserted through the gas permeable membrane into the first connector, whereby fluid communication can be established between the main lumen of the first connector and the cannula lumen.

The tip portion directs blood-flow in a direction generally counter to the direction of flow through the lumen.
