    摘要: A push-button switch is provided which includes a base plate having terminals extending therethrough and solderable in a p.c. board. A housing is subsequently snap-assembled with the base plate and carries a push-button member which is reciprocable when manually pushed. Cam tracks are provided in the housing and a cam follower lever is pivotally mounted on the push-button member. The lever is accessible through an aperture in the housing for engagement with either of the cam tracks. One of the cam tracks produces momentary action, while the other produces alternate action.

    摘要: A rotary switch convertible from being operable over a smaller range of angular motion, e.g. as a two-position switch, into being operable, in either of two configurations, over larger ranges of angular motion, e.g. as a three-position switch. A rotor and a stator are assembled for relative rotation. Four lugs divide a face of the stator into four quadrants. Two pairs of lugs, each comprising a removable lug and a permanent lug, are provided on a face of the rotor. The faces are juxtaposed such that relative rotation of the rotor and the stator is limited by interference between certain of the lugs on the rotor and certain of the lugs on the stator. Before removal of either removable lug, the rotor and the stator may be assembled for a smaller range of angular motion. After removal of both removable lugs, the rotor and the stator may be assembled in either of two configurations for larger ranges of angular motion.

    摘要: This invention relates to a liquid crystal device wherein the surface profile of a surface alignment grating stabilises at least one stable state. The invention involves the introduction or breaks (34, 36, 38) or discontinuities into the grating (10) to divide the grating into a plurality of groove segments. The breaks are discontinuities in the grating in the groove direction, the grating having substantially the same groove direction on each side of the break. The introduction of breaks prevent free movement of defects along the groove of the grating and therefore help to stabilise the desired liquid crystal configuration, either a Defect state or a Continuous state. Suitable breaks involve gaps (34) in the groove ridges (30), necks (36) between the groove ridges (30) and slips or relative displacement (38) of the grating.

    摘要: A liquid crystal device is provided that comprises a layer of liquid crystal material (2) disposed between two cell walls (4, 6) in an arrangement such that the liquid crystal material (2) can adopt any one of two or more stable liquid crystal configurations that will persist in the absence of an applied electric field. The liquid crystal device is operable in two modes; a first mode in which application of an appropriate latching voltage pulse can select any one of the two or more stable liquid crystal configurations, and a second mode in which application of an electric field can switch the layer of liquid crystal material from a latched configuration to a switched configuration and in which the layer of liquid crystal material will return to said latched configuration when the applied electric field is removed.
