    摘要: Improved approaches for communicating changes to security policies (or rules) in a distributed security system are disclosed. Depending on the status of an affected user in the system, the changes can be delivered to the user if the user is logged in the system or effectuated in a state message in a local server and the state message is delivered to the user next time the user is logged in the system. If a local server is not operative at the time that a change request is received for a user of the local server, the change request is redirected to another local server. The user is directed to the another local server to affect the change request. As a result, various changes are guaranteed to be delivered to the affected users without compromising the network efficiency.

    摘要: Aspects of the present invention provide energy conserving communications for networked thermostats powered, in part, by batteries. A thermostat communication server stores a thermostat battery-level to determine what data should be sent to the thermostat. The thermostat communication server classifies types of data to be transmitted to the thermostat according to a data priority ranging from a low-priority to a high-priority data type. If the battery-level associated with the battery on the thermostat is at a low battery-level, the thermostat communication server may only transmit data classified under a high-priority data type. This conserves the power used by the thermostat, allows the battery on the thermostat time to recharge and perform other functions. If the battery-level of the thermostat is at a high level, the thermostat communication server may transmit a range of data to the thermostat classified from a low-priority type to a high-priority data type.

    摘要: Improved techniques for transferring files through a multi-tier computing environment are disclosed. The transfer of files across the multiple tiers of the computing environment can use staging at intermediate tiers to facilitate the file transfer. Each tier can include at least one computing machine that includes a file transfer manager. The file transfer managers at the computing machines in each of the multiple tiers serve to effectuate the file transfer through the multi-tier computing environment. In one embodiment, the multi-tier computing environment is a multi-tier file security system and the files being transferred are audit files.
