摘要: An apparatus (30) and a method for providing an output signal (28) indicative of a vehicle operating parameter. Preferably, the operating parameter is lateral acceleration of the vehicle. A lateral acceleration sensor (36) senses lateral acceleration and provides a first signal (38). A lateral acceleration estimator (40) estimates lateral acceleration and provides a second signal (42). The first signal (38) is passed through filters (44, 46) to provide first signal portions (38L, 38H). The second signal (42) is passed through filters (48, 50). The first signal (38) and the filtered second signal (42H) are provided to a fuzzy logic controller (56) for analysis. The fuzzy logic controller (56) provides two fuzzy variable values (K1, K2) based upon the analysis. The second signal portion (38H) and the filtered second signal (42H) are multiplied by the fuzzy variables, respectively. The results of the two multiplications and the first signal portion (38L) are summed together to provide the output signal (28). Preferably, the apparatus (30) is part of an active roll control suspension system (10) and the output signal (28) is provided to a controller (24) for use in controlling force to counteract the chassis roll force.

摘要: A vehicle power steering motor (31) provides a force to turn vehicle steerable wheels (14 and 16). A power steering control valve (22) includes first and second relatively rotatable valve members (40 and 42). The first and second valve members (40 and 42) port fluid to actuate the vehicle power steering motor (31) upon relative movement. A device (114) senses at least one vehicle operational characteristic and provides a signal indicative of the at least one vehicle operational characteristic. In a preferred embodiment, the at least one vehicle operational characteristic is vehicle lateral acceleration. A force transmitting device (116, 120, and 130) resists relative movement between the first and second valve members (40 and 42) with a force which varies as a function of the output signal. The force varies as a function of vehicle lateral acceleration.

摘要: A vehicle suspension device includes a plurality of hydraulic actuators which in use support the sprung mass of the vehicle relative to the wheel and hub assemblies of the vehicle. Each hydraulic actuator is part of a single vehicle suspension device which includes a signal processor device for processing signals corresponding to a plurality of variable perimeters of the vehicle's behavior and for producing a signal to control the extension and the contraction of the hydraulic actuator. A central processor communicates with all of the vehicle suspension devices and processes signals corresponding to a plurality of variable perimeters of the vehicle's behavior and produces control signals to control the extension and contraction of each actuator.

摘要: An active suspension system for a vehicle having a sprung mass and an unsprung mass comprises a hydraulic actuator connected between the sprung mass and the unsprung mass, and a hydraulic accumulator. An energy saving valve communicates the accumulator with the actuator to effect energy saving flows of hydraulic fluid in the actuator. The system provides a nominal hydraulic fluid pressure differential acting across a piston in the actuator when the actuator is in a nominal operating condition. The system responds to static load inputs to the vehicle by providing a load responsive pressure differential across the piston when the actuator is in a loaded condition. The load responsive pressure differential acts on the piston equally and oppositely to the static load input. The system maintains the hydraulic fluid pressure in the first hydraulic chamber equal to a nominal pressure level when the actuator is in a loaded condition. The nominal pressure level is equal to the mean operating pressure of the accumulator. The system thus maintains an optimum capacity for energy savings.

摘要: A seismometer having a hydrodynamically efficient shaped body containing a seismic sensor or source, having a propulsion unit located and a control unit for directional control of the propulsion unit for guiding the seismometer to and from an ocean floor. The seismometer can be deployed from a surface ship, helicopter or airplane. The seismometer or surface support vessel contains a navigation unit for directing the control unit to a desired location on the ocean bottom. The apparatus provides a storage device for storing seismic data sensed by the seismic sensor. The navigation system sends a responsive directional command to the apparatus based on the current location and the desired location. Upon arrival at the desired ocean bottom location, the propulsion system acts to couple the apparatus to the ocean floor. A flight control system manages a plurality of the seismometers during navigation to and from the a ocean bottom.
