摘要:
A portable communications subscriber unit operates as a data transfer terminal as well as an analog cellular telephone M-ES. Two modes of operation, an analog cellular communication mode and a Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD) mode, are available in the subscriber unit. The subscriber unit distinguishes between paging signals indicative of a CDPD mode of communication and those indicative of an analog cellular mode of communication. The subscriber unit automatically preempts CDPD communications in favor of analog cellular communications such as those carried out in an AMPS system. The present inventive method enables the subscriber unit to remain registered in the CDPD communication system using a CDPD “sleep mode” while performing activities on the AMPS system. Another aspect of the present invention facilitates the automatic switching of subscriber unit displays to correspond to the communication system with which the unit is presently communicating.

Ribbed mirrors allowing heat to be conducted past the glass during optical polish and application of coatings and methods of fabricating same. The method comprises placing a bridge of thermally conductive material in thermal contact with the mirror plate and the supporting rib at the interior angle. The preferred thermally conductive material is room temperature vulcanizing silicone. However, the room temperature vulcanizing silicone can be mixed with a powdered heat conductor such as diamond dust, aluminum oxide and silicon carbide. Alternatively, the thermally conductive fillet can be made from a segment of thermally conductive rigid material, such as copper, diamond, beryllium, silver and aluminum having an exterior angle matching the interior angle and a thermally conductive plastic such as room temperature vulcanizing silicone or thermally conductive grease, silicone or epoxy applied to surfaces of the exterior angle.

An intonation training device for training musicians in just intonation. As disclosed, the device is a pocket-sized portable device with an audio output and a user interface which includes an LCD display and a device such as a push button for selecting an item from a menu. When the device is turned on, the LCD display indicates a key and the device emits a sustained pure chord in the key. The user can use the menu item selection device to select another key and the training device then continuously emits the chord in the just scale for that key. The selected key appears in the LCD display.Implementations disclosed include an implementation that employs stored samples of the chords, an implementation in which the chords are generated from waveforms, and an implementation in a portable pocket-sized multimedia asset player.

A covert camera for surveillance in an aircraft comprises a front panel that can have an appearance other than a conventional camera. The front panel can include at least one aperture therethrough. A lens can be in or near the aperture, the lens having a field of view. A camera mount can be positioned on the front panel. The camera mount can include a sensor capable of receiving an image of at least a portion of the field of view. The camera mount can be capable of adjustment without movement of the lens.

According to aspects of the embodiments, there is provided methods of controlling operation of a printer, apparatus and computer-readable medium. The embodiments control operation of a printer by receiving a print command for printing from a user, and displaying a print user interface including selectable document settings and context based restrictions. Context based restrictions allows a system administrator to flexibly manage users access to a device features and capabilities. A variety of restrictions can be specified including time-based, capacity-based, and application-based. This invention also prevents the user from submitting a job with a restricted feature. Advantages are a clear, understandable presentation of restrictions to the user so the user knows what features the user cannot access.

Food components including a triacylglycerol component and a bulking agent are provided. The triacylglycerol component typically has a melting point of about 100 to 120° F. and constitutes about 20 to 35 wt. % of the food components. The food component can be formed by heating a composition which includes the triacylglycerol component and bulking agent under conditions sufficient to form an outer layer having certain desired physical characteristics. Food products incorporating the food components are also provided.

Food compositions including a triacylglycerol component and a bulking agent are provided. The triacylglycerol component typically forms about 20 to 35 wt. % of the food composition. The triacylglycerol component can be formed by combining a lauric triacylglycerol with a saturated 16/18 triacylglycerol. The triacylglycerol component can be characterized by its fatty acid composition, which typically includes at least about 30 wt. % lauric acid and at least about 10 wt. % total of palmitic acid and stearic acid. Methods for making the food compositions and food products incorporating the food compositions are also provided.

An improved support for a telescope mirror using a system of three bars which are joined at their ends to the back of the mirror with compliant adhesive pads. Preferably, one end is joined to the center of the mirror while the others are joined on the circumference of a circle centered on the center of the mirror. In this preferred embodiment, there is an approximately right triangular relationship between the centers of the bars. The backs of the bars are coupled at their centers to mirror adjusting mechanisms by further compliant pads. The numbers of support points can be increased by coupling further bars or triangles between the circumferential support points of the original three bars and the back of the mirror. Again coupling is provided by compliant adhesive pads. The thickness and size of all pads are controlled to provide stiff support in compression and shear along with resilient support in bending. The preferred geometry of the support configuration of the back of the mirror makes collimation easier by decoupling altitude and azimuth adjustments. Stress-free assembly of the mirror and its supports is accomplished by applying the adhesive pads in liquid form, then allowing the pads to cure while the components are supported with spacers. Because the pads are pliable, spacers are easily removed after curing and, should there be any need to disassemble the mirror, the thickness of the pads allows for easy cutting.
