Novel benzimidazole derivatives of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is a lower alkyl group, a lower alkenyl group or a lower alkynyl group, R.sup.2 is hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group or a lower hydroxyalkyl group, and n is 2 or 3, or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof, which have potent antihistaminic activity with less toxicity and hence are useful as an antihistaminics, and a process for the preparation of the compounds, and a pharmaceutical composition useful as antihistaminics containing the compound as an essential active ingredient.

Disclosed is a vaginal suppository comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (hereinafter referred to as DHAS), an amino acid and a hard fat having a hydroxy value of not more than 50. This suppository features an improved absorption of the active drug from the vagina plus a good shelf life.

The porous silica-based particles have an average particle diameter of 0.5 to 30 μm and have a surface smoothness of a level to such an extent that, when the entire surface of the particle is observed from a photograph thereof taken by a scanning electron microscope (SEM) with a magnifying power of 10,000, a foreign matter attached to the surface thereof can be hardly seen.
