Abstract:
A polymer composition includes 15 to 60 wt %, preferably 20 to 56 wt % of a polycarbonate; 30 to 60 wt %, preferably 28 to 50 wt % of a poly(1,4-cyclohexanedimethylene terephthalate); 0.05 to 35 wt %, preferably 0.1 to 30 wt % of a poly(carbonate-siloxane); 0.5 to 18 wt %, preferably 1 to 13 wt % of a thermoplastic poly(ester-ether) copolymer, preferably comprising poly(butylene terephthalate) blocks and poly(oxyC1-C4 alkylene units); and 0.5 to 8 wt % of ethylene-alkyl (meth)acrylate copolymer, wherein alkyl is a C1-C4 straight chain, unsaturated hydrocarbon group; wherein the weight percentages are based on the total weight of the polymer composition. A method of manufacturing an article including the steps of melt blending the components of the polycarbonate composition is described. An article prepared by the method is also described.
Abstract:
A composition includes specific amounts of an aromatic polycarbonate, a block polycarbonate-polysiloxane, a poly(alkylene terephthalate), a block polyestercarbonate, and an organophosphate ester. Relative to a corresponding composition lacking the block polyestercarbonate, the composition exhibits improved solvent resistance while substantially maintaining impact strength, melt flow, and flame retardancy. The composition is useful for fabricating articles that may come into contact with liquid chemicals or chemical vapors.
Abstract:
This disclosure relates to halogen-free flame retardant polycarbonate/thermoplastic polyester molding compositions with improved mechanical properties and increased polyester loading level. More particularly, the disclosure relates to halogen-free polycarbonate/thermoplastic polyester resin alloys with polymeric phosphorus flame retardant additive and siloxane impact modifier. Also included are methods for preparing such compositions and articles there from.
Abstract:
A composition includes specific amounts of a poly(butylene terephthalate), a reinforcing filler, and a polycarbonate that includes a copolyestercarbonate and a polycarbonate-polydiorganosiloxane block copolymer. The copolyestercarbonate includes aliphatic ester groups. The composition, which exhibits a desirable balance of melt flow and ductility, is especially useful for forming thin plastic parts of consumer electronic devices, including mobile phones.
