Abstract: The present invention relates to a bag comprising a film, wherein the film comprises at least a first layer, wherein the first layer is a bi-directionally oriented polyethylene film layer, wherein the bag comprises ≥90.0 wt % of polyethylene with regard to the total weight of the film. Such bag may be used for packaging of bulk goods or for packaging of frozen matter. Such bag demonstrates a desirably high retention of mechanical properties and shape under load, at reduced weight as compared to bags of the art, and presents a mono-material solution allowing suitable further processing of the bag via recycling technologies.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the production of modified polyethylene comprising adding a free radical initiator composition and a polar monomer in extrusion of polyethylene materials with a melt mass flow rate (MFR) as determined in accordance with ISO 1133-1 (2011) at 190° C. under a load of 2.16 kg of between 0.5 and 75 g/10 min characterized in that the free radical initiator composition is added in quantities between 0.01 wt % to 5 wt % compared to the total weight of the polyethylene material wherein the extrusion is performed at a temperature between 230° C. and 350° C. Such process allows for the production of modified polyethylenes, such as having an amount of grafted polar monomer, such as maleic anhydride, of >3 wt %, with low amount of free, unreacted monomer whilst maintaining or not significantly modifying melt properties such as melt mass flow rate.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of a free radical initiator composition for the reduction of gels in polyethylene materials wherein a polyethylene material is subjected to melt processing in the presence of a free radical initiator composition characterized in that the free radical initiator composition is added in quantities ≤0.050 wt % compared to the total weight of the polyethylene material. Such use results in polyethylene materials having reduced gel content, whilst still having good optical and mechanical properties, and whilst preferably maintaining melt properties such as melt mass flow rate.
