    Abstract: Provided are a separator for a lithium secondary battery and a lithium secondary battery comprising same. The separator for a lithium secondary battery includes a porous substrate and a coating layer positioned on at least one surface of the porous substrate and including polyethylene particles, inorganic particles, and a binding binder, wherein the inorganic particles are a mixture of first inorganic particles and second inorganic particles, the second inorganic particles are plate-shaped Mg(OH)2, the mixing ratio of the polyethylene particles and the inorganic particles is 5:5 to 8:2 by weight, and the mixing ratio of the first inorganic particles and the second inorganic particles is 1:9 to 3:7 by weight.

    Abstract: A separator for a rechargeable lithium battery and a rechargeable lithium battery including the same are provided, and the separator for the rechargeable lithium battery includes a porous substrate and a coating layer on at least one surface of the porous substrate and including polyethylene particles and ceramics. The content of the polyethylene particles is 40 to 65 wt % by weight of the content of the porous substrate, the weight-average molecular weight of the polyethylene particles ranges from 1000 g/mol to 3000 g/mol, and the mixing ratio (ratio by weight) of the polyethylene particles to the ceramics ranges from 95:5 to 80:20.

    Abstract: This application relates to a separator and a lithium battery employing the same. In one aspect, the separator includes a porous substrate and a coating layer disposed on a surface of the porous substrate. The coating layer includes organic particles, a first binder, and inorganic particles. The organic particles have a first melting point of about 100□C to about 13□C. The first binder has a second melting point higher than the first melting point by about 30□C or more. The organic particles are coated by or embedded in the first binder. The separator can maintain a network structure even at a high temperature, making it possible to improve the high-temperature stability of a lithium battery by employing the separator, as well as delaying a rapid increase in temperature and heat generation when a shutdown occurs.
