    Abstract: A method of forming a composite cutter for a downhole drilling tool is described. The method includes: mixing a polycrystalline diamond powder and a cubic boron nitride powder with a molar ratio between 0.1 and 0.9 to form a catalyst-free composite mixture; placing the catalyst-free composite mixture into a mold configured in a shape of a cutter; exposing the catalyst-free composite mixture to an ultra-high-pressure, high-temperature treatment including a pressure between 11 Gigapascals (GPa) and 20 GPa, and a temperature between 1300 Kelvins (K) and 2600 K to form a solid composite body; and cooling the solid composite body to form the composite cutter.

    Abstract: A system includes a sliding sleeve, a ball landing seat, a plurality of microchips, a hydraulic piston, and a ball catcher. The sliding sleeve has a solid wall body and is installed within a tubular body. The tubular body has an exit groove. The ball landing seat is formed by the sliding sleeve. The plurality of microchips are housed in a microchip ring installed within the sliding sleeve. The hydraulic piston is installed within the microchip ring and is triggered by reception of a ball, blocking a flow path, in the ball landing seat. The hydraulic piston releases the plurality of microchips through the exit groove and into the well to gather data. The ball catcher is configured to receive and hold the ball after the plurality of microchips are released into the well.

    Abstract: Sealing composition for plugging and abandoning a wellbore and methods of plugging and abandoning a wellbore are disclosed. Embodiments of a method for plugging and abandoning a wellbore may include introducing a sealing composition into a wellbore and curing the sealing composition to form a plug. The sealing composition may include from 1 weight percent to 20 weight percent of a curing agent, based on the total weight of the composition, and from 20 weight percent to 97 weight percent of an epoxy resin system, based on the total weight of the composition. The epoxy resin system may include an epoxy resin having the formula (OC2H3)—CH2—O—R1—O—CH2—(C2H3O), where R1 is a linear or branched hydrocarbyl having from 4 to 24 carbon atoms; and a reactive diluent having the formula R—O—CH2—(C2H3O), where R is a hydrocarbyl having from 12 to 14 carbon atoms.

    Abstract: A loss circulation material (LCM) testing apparatus includes an LCM testing cell. The LCM testing fluid is a slurry of LCM material and a wellbore drilling fluid. A fluid flow pathway within the LCM testing cell is defined between an inlet and an outlet. The LCM testing cell includes a disk member that is removable positioned in the fluid flow pathway between the inlet and the outlet of the LCM testing cell. The disk member includes a disk base and a plurality of downstream-directed extensions, which combined define a plurality of flow openings.A method of evaluating a loss circulation material (LCM) includes introducing a LCM testing fluid into the LCM testing cell and detecting an amount of LCM testing fluid traversing the LCM test cell.
