摘要: In particular case second vertical scanning period includes a write period in which a first potential difference V1 is to be given to an upper electrode and a lower electrode. In another particular case, the second vertical scanning period includes a write period in which a second potential difference V2 being greater than the first potential difference V1 is given to the upper electrode and the lower electrode. In the former write period, substantially the same potential as that of a counter electrode is given to the upper electrode, and a different potential from that of the counter electrode is given to the lower electrode. In the latter write period, substantially the same potential as that of the counter electrode is given to the lower electrode, and a different potential from that of the counter electrode is given to the upper electrode.

摘要: A liquid crystal display device (100) includes a liquid crystal display panel (1) and an illumination element (2), and is capable of switching between: a first mode of displaying in which displaying is performed by using a plurality of color rays emitted from the illumination element; and a second mode of displaying in which the background is allowed to be perceived, with no color rays being emitted from the illumination element. Each pixel is, under the first mode of displaying, capable of switchably presenting a black displaying state with a vertical field being generated across the liquid crystal layer (30), a white displaying state with a lateral field being generated across the liquid crystal layer, or a transparent displaying state of allowing the rear face side to be visible in a see-through manner with no voltage applied to the liquid crystal layer, and, under the second mode of displaying, capable of switchably presenting a black displaying state with a vertical field being generated across the liquid crystal layer, a transparent displaying state of allowing the rear face side to be visible in a see-through manner with no voltage being applied to the liquid crystal layer, a white displaying state with essentially only a vertical field being generated across the liquid crystal layer, or an intermediate level displaying state with essentially only a vertical field being generated across the liquid crystal layer.

摘要: A liquid crystal display apparatus includes a liquid crystal display panel including a first substrate, a second substrate, and a liquid crystal layer and a plurality of pixels. The first substrate includes a first electrode provided in each of the pixels and a first horizontal alignment film that determines a pretilt orientation of a liquid crystal molecule. The second substrate includes a second electrode provided to face the first electrode and a second horizontal alignment film that determines the pretilt orientation of the liquid crystal molecule. Each of the first and second horizontal alignment films is a photoalignment film. At least one of the first substrate and the second substrate includes an anchoring structure in each of the pixels. The liquid crystal display panel further includes an alignment sustaining layer which is formed on the surface of each of the first and second horizontal alignment films on the liquid crystal layer side, is configured with a photopolymer, and imparts a pretilt angle greater than 0° to the liquid crystal molecules.

摘要: A liquid crystal display device performs displaying by field sequential driving. The liquid crystal display device includes a plurality of scanning lines; and a plurality of signal lines including a plurality of pairs of signal lines, each pair of signal line being connected to one pixel column. Under field sequential driving, within one field period of emitting any of a plurality of color rays, there is an overlap between: a first period in which a first scanning line group included among the plurality of scanning lines are scanned and one of the pair of signal lines is used to perform signal writes; and a second period in which a second scanning line group included among the plurality of scanning lines are scanned, and another one of the pair of signal lines is used to perform signal writes.
