Abstract:
A binder composition for nonaqueous battery electrodes essentially contains (A) an ethylenically unsaturated monomer and (B) a surfactant, and further satisfies any two or more conditions of the following (I) to (III): (I) (A) the ethylenically unsaturated monomer includes (a) a phosphoric acid group-containing ethylenically unsaturated monomer; (II) (B) the surfactant comprises (b) a phosphoric acid group-containing surfactant; and (III) the composition including (C) a neutralizing agent containing an alkali metal compound and/or an alkali earth metal compound.
Abstract:
An aqueous binder composition for a secondary battery electrode containing a silane coupling agent without ethylenically unsaturated bonds, a resin which is a polymer of at least one kind of ethylenically unsaturated monomers, a resin which is a polymer of at least one kind of ethylenically unsaturated monomer, and at least one kind of solvent selected from water and a hydrophilic solvent. The amount of silane coupling agent is from 0.5 to 9 parts by mass based on 100 parts by mass of ethylenically unsaturated monomer. The pH of the composition is 2.5 to 8.0. Also disclosed is a binder obtained by curing the aqueous binder composition, a slurry containing the aqueous binder composition and an active material, a secondary battery electrode obtained by curing the slurry, and a secondary battery including the secondary battery electrode.
Abstract:
A binder composition for nonaqueous battery electrodes is prepared by adding a small amount of an acetylene glycol compound to an aqueous polymer emulsion obtained by emulsion polymerization of a monomer mixture comprising from 15 to 70% by mass of styrene (a), from 20 to 80% by mass of an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylate (b), from 1 to 10% by mass of an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid (c), from 0.1 to 5% by mass of a crosslinkable ethylenically unsaturated monomer (d), and from 0 to 20% by mass of another monoethylenically unsaturated monomer (e). When the above binder composition is used, an active material is not peeled off in the step of cutting a collector even when a small amount of the binder is used, and a nonaqueous battery excellent in a charge-discharge cycle property can be produced.
