Abstract:
A polymer-bonded polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon compound of general formula (1): (P—O)x-Q-(Y)w (1) wherein P represents a polymeric moiety having at least three repeating units which comprise an optionally substituted phenyl ring; Q represents a perylene, quaterrylene or terrylene moiety; Y is selected from (i) halogen and (ii) optionally substituted N-heterocycloaliphatic groups having from 3 to about 8 ring members which are bonded to Q through an N atom, provided that at least one Y represents (ii); x represents an integer of from 1 to 4; w represents an integer of from 1 to 4. Also, are provided processes of producing the compounds, polymers, markings and articles, and methods of authenticating.
Abstract:
The present invention is related to the filed of optically variable security elements comprising a region based on a single cured ink comprising a cholesteric liquid crystal polymer, said region having at least two, preferably at least three, patterns exhibiting, at at least one viewing angle, a different CIE (1976) color index parameter and/or a different position of the selective reflection band for protecting security documents against counterfeiting and/or illegal reproduction. In particular, the present invention relates to processes for manufacturing said features, when the processes comprises the steps of a) applying on a substrate by a rotogravure process with the use of a gravure cylinder having at least two, preferably at least three, different engravings a single cholesteric liquid crystal precursor composition, b) heating the applied composition to bring said composition to a cholesteric liquid crystal state, and c) curing the composition so as to form the region based on a single cured ink comprising a cholesteric liquid crystal polymer.
Abstract:
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon compounds having an S atom or S(═O)2 moiety incorporated in their basic polycyclic structure that can have a nitrogen-containing heterocycloaliphatic group and/or a substituted or unsubstituted phenoxy group and/or a polymeric moiety bonded to the polycyclic structure and to compositions such as, e.g., printing inks which comprise these polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons as colorants.
