LII) IN A POLAR SOLVENT BALANCED BETWEEN DONOR STRENGTH AND DIELECTRIC CONSTANT (E.G. HEXAMETHYLPHOSPHORAMIDE) WITH A CATALYST MONOMER MOLE RATIO RANGING FROM 0.001% TO 20% AND AT A TEMPERATURE IN THE RANGE FROM -20 TO 20*C.

NOVEL POLYMERS ARE DISCLOSED WHICH COMPRISE MODIFIED OLEFINS CONTAINING IN THEIR MOLECULE AN ENDOMETHYLENE RING OR A CYCLOALIPHATIC RING, A STRAIGHT HYDROCARBON CHAIN AND CHARACTERISTIS POLAR GROUPS INCLUDING COOH, CN, CHO, CONH2, SO3H, CH2,CI AND COOR* WHERE R* MAY BE AN ALKYL OR AN ARYL RADICAL.
