    Abstract: A control system and method of control for a centrifugal gas compressor including a magnetic bearing. The control system and method is configured to control the operation of a magnetic bearing system, and may control other systems of the gas compressor as well. Bearing communications are digitized proximate the gas compressor and communicated using data packet communications. The compressor and magnetic bearing controls may be performed on the same computer, and the control systems of the compressor, magnetic bearing, and engine or motor can all share information, a common user interface, and a common uninterrupted power source.
