Abstract: The present technology relates to a communication apparatus and a method that allow for synthesis of information using an original signal and a retransmission signal for retransmitting information of the original signal whose demodulation has failed, in wireless communication with independent physical layer and MAC layer. Information is transmitted regarding a configuration of a retransmission signal for retransmitting information of an original signal whose demodulation has failed to a sender of the retransmission signal, and the retransmission signal transmitted from the sender is received on the basis of the information regarding the configuration of the retransmission signal transmitted. The present disclosure is applicable, for example, to a transmission/reception apparatus, a communication apparatus, an information processing apparatus, electronic equipment, a computer, a program, a storage medium, and a system, and so on.
