The system includes a lamp unit and a control unit where the lamp unit includes: a light source that emits light; a liquid crystal element using the light emitted from the light source to form irradiation light; and a lens projecting the irradiation light; where the light from the light source enters the element at an angle including a direction inclined from the normal of a light incident surface of the element; where the light incident surface has a first region in which most light enters from a viewing direction of the element and a second region in which most light enters from other directions, and where the control unit drives the element by setting a first voltage of the first region to be low and setting a second voltage of the second region to be high.

摘要: An electrodeposition element is provided which includes a first substrate including a first member and an electrode arranged above the first member, a second substrate arranged opposite to the first substrate and including an electrode, and an electrolyte layer arranged between the electrodes of the first substrate and the second substrate, and including an electrodeposition material that contains silver. When a voltage is applied between the electrodes of the first substrate and the second substrate such that the first substrate side is negative and the second substrate side is positive, a reflective surface made of a silver thin film and reflecting light, which is incident from a direction normal to the first and second substrates, in a direction not parallel to the incident direction of the light is formed above the electrode of the first substrate.

摘要: A liquid crystal element achieving both optical control utilizing a memory property and optical control capable of supporting moving image displays is disclosed. The first substrate and the second substrate of the element are set in an orientation process direction that ensures generation of a first orientation state, and a chiral material that generates a second orientation state is included in the liquid crystal layer. The layer transitions from the second orientation state to the first orientation state when an electric field of a layer thickness direction is applied. The layer transitions from the first orientation state to the second orientation state when an electric field of a direction perpendicular to the layer thickness direction is applied. And the layer returns to the second orientation state when an orientation change is generated according to the strength of the electric field when an electric field of the perpendicular direction is applied.

摘要: To prevent damage in an electro-optical device that uses electrochromic material. The device includes electro-optical elements and a driving device that applies a driving voltage to the electro-optical elements. The driving device applies a first DC voltage of a positive polarity that cyclically repeats a first voltage and a second voltage that is lower than the first voltage, or a second DC voltage of a negative polarity that cyclically repeats a third voltage and a fourth voltage that is higher than the third voltage, to the electro-optical elements. According to the driving device, when the first DC voltage is applied to one and the second DC voltage is applied to the other electro-optical elements adjacent in the planar view, the first and the second DC voltages are supplied by time division so that the applied period of the first voltage and the third voltage do not overlap.
