摘要： Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and computer readable-media for localizing display of applications for download, the method including receiving from a developer and ingesting into an online store an application localized in different languages, including a designated default language, determining a local language of a user desiring to download the application from the online store, presenting to the user an interface to download a version of the application in the user's local language if the application is available in the user's local language, and presenting to the user an interface to download the version of the application in the designated default language if the application is unavailable in the user's local language. In one aspect, a list of all available localized versions is presented to the user. In another aspect, statistics about when the user desires an unavailable localized version are recorded and reported to the developer. One variation includes receiving from the user a request for an unavailable localized version, and forwarding the request to the developer. To assist a customer in selecting a proper localized version, the method can display to the user one or more representative screenshots of the localized application. In the case of people who speak more than one language, determining a local language of a user further includes determining one or more secondary local languages and/or assigning an order of priority to the secondary languages.

摘要： Methods and systems are disclosed that allow automated pre-qualification and qualification of an application. An application description can be generated for an application submitted by a developer, the application description can be automatically examined to determine whether the application complies with rules or guidelines (e.g., policies) of a platform. If the application complies with the rules or guidelines, the application can be pre-qualified and submitted for approval and distribution. If the application does not comply with the rules or guidelines, the application developer can be notified of the errors in the application and the developer can be prevented from uploading the application for approval and distribution.

摘要： According to some embodiments, techniques are described herein to assist a publisher to create fixed layout pages of an electronic publication. The techniques are useful for creating cookbooks, travel books, photography books, children's books, other “illustrated books”, or any other electronic publication where a fixed layout for at least some of the pages of the electronic publication is desirable. With the techniques, the publisher may embed fonts, select particular fonts and font sizes, assign visual content to fixed layout pages, and precisely position visual content at fixed positions on fixed layout pages. A scaling mechanism for an electronic reader device is also disclosed for scaling fixed layout pages to fit the size of a display screen of the reader device while maintaining the aspect ratio and assignment of visual content to fixed layout pages specified by the publisher.

摘要： Generic media covers can be generated for digital media items submitted by publishers without a personalized media cover. A generic media cover can be generated for a media item by hashing a unique identifier of the media item that remains consistent throughout the life cycle of the media item. Bytes of the hashed value can be translated into graphic parameters which are used to generate the generic graphic. The graphic parameters can be attached to the generic graphic, thus allowing a user to regenerate the generic graphic at a desired resolution at a later point in time. Also disclosed are techniques for ensuring that generic media covers for a bundle of media items appear substantially similar.

This is accomplished without relocating the original data, by analyzing the data in its existing format and assorted locations, in order to discern the logical structure of the data, in terms of whatever units might be applicable for the specific type of data in question (e.g., paragraphs, sections, articles, chapters, frames, etc.). The result is an object-oriented model of that data structure. The system also allows for customization of the format for displaying the information, once the model has been constructed. The data thus remains in its original location and format, but is presented through the system in a coherent, uniform format.
