Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses are provided for providing integrity protection in a dual subscriber identity module (SIM) dual standby (DSDS) device. A first message is received on a first SIM of the DSDS device before a radio resource of the DSDS device is tuned away from the first SIM to a second SIM by performing a tune-away procedure. A second message is received after completion of the tune-away procedure. The second message is validated. It is determined whether a first payload of the first message matches a second payload of the second message, when the first message and the second message have a same message sequence number. It is determined that the second message is a duplicate message, when the first payload matches the second payload.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses are provided for preserving a Radio Resource Control (RRC) state of a User Equipment (UE). The UE receives, from a radio network controller, a physical channel reconfiguration message for transitioning the RRC state of the UE. ACircuit Switching (CS) event is detected at the UE. A physical channel reconfiguration failure message associated with a failure cause to preserve the RRC state of the UE, is transmitted from the UE to the radio network controller.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus are provided for improving availability of a circuit switched (CS) service to a user equipment (UE). The UE sends at least one location area update (LAU) message, to a core network (CN), to initiate an LAU procedure. A release of a CS signaling connection between the UE and the CN is detected due to a failure in the LAU procedure. An ongoing PS signaling connection between the UE and the CN is identified, when the CS signaling connection between the UE and the CN is released. The ongoing PS signaling connection is released. A public land mobile network (PLMN) is selected for obtaining CS services from the core network, when the ongoing PS signaling connection is released.
