The present invention relates to an automatic switching method. A device according to an embodiment of the present invention is an automatic switching device in a second device, which comprises a controller for enabling the second device, together with a first device, to perform a terminal discovery and a service discovery, transmit a connection request message including a continuous connection field and an automatic connection mode from the second device, and receive a particular service from the first device on the basis of the information included in the connection request message, wherein the continuous connection field includes a service identifier.

The present disclosure relates to a sensor network, machine type communication (MTC), machine-to-machine (M2M) communication, and technology for internet of things (IoT). An apparatus and method are provided for providing and managing security information in a communication system. A method of a first device includes detecting that a second device requests to share security information of the first device; registering information of the second device at a service provider; receiving, from the service provider, authentication information for the second device to share the security information of the first device; and transmitting the authentication information to the second device.

Provided is a method for displaying application data in a wireless communication system, the method including transmitting, by a first device, audio and video data out of application data executed by the first device to a second device in a Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) Display (WFD) session, if the WFD session is established through discovery between the first device and the second device, transmitting, by the first device, text or Graphic User Interface (GUI) data related to the transmitted audio and video data, to the second device in a session that is different from the WFD session, and receiving, by the first device, a close command for the application data and sending a message comprising a set parameter for stopping display of the text or GUI data to the second device.

A method of performing a Peer to Peer (P2P) service with at least one second terminal by a first terminal is provided. The method includes transmitting contact information of the first terminal to the at least one second terminals; receiving contact information of the at least one second terminals from the at least one second terminal; receiving information on an application supporting the P2P service from the at least one second terminal; displaying identification information of the at least one second terminal and first identification information of the application by using the contact information of the at least one second terminal and the information on the application; and performing the P2P service with the at least one second terminal through the application.

Provided is a method for playing multimedia contents in a first device of a communication system, the method including receiving a buffer storage capability of a second device from the second device, upon receiving a User Backward Seek (UIBC) command from the second device, determining a play position from which multimedia contents are to be played according to the UIBC command in a buffer of the second device based on the buffer storage capability of the second device, and notifying the second device of information about the determined play position.
