    Abstract: A method and an apparatus for self-interference cancellation in a communication device. The communication device includes an antenna configured to transmit a transmit signal and receive a receive signal through a duplexer in FDD communications, a first analog to digital converter (ADC) configured to convert the receive signal from analog to digital, a coupler configured to couple a sample of the transmit signal to a second ADC, which is configured to convert the sample of the transmit signal from analog to digital, and self-interference cancellation circuitry configured to process the digital sample of the transmit signal to generate a self-interference cancellation signal and apply the self-interference cancellation signal to the digital receive signal to cancel an amount of interference induced in the receive signal by the transmit signal. The SIC process provides additional isolation between TX signal and RX signal. The additional isolation could be utilized to relief the isolation requirement for the duplexer, reducing the cost and form factor of the duplexer.

    Abstract: A method includes receiving, by a base station, a sounding reference signal (SRS) symbol from a user equipment (UE). The method also includes estimating, by the base station, an uplink (UL) channel from the UE to a full dimensional multiple-input multiple-output (FD-MIMO) base station base band based on the received SRS symbol. The method also includes receiving, by the base station from the UE, an estimate of a downlink (DL) channel from the FD-MIMO base station base band to the UE. The method also includes performing, by the base station, a joint calibration by applying one or more calibration algorithms using channel state information (CSI) of the UL channel and the DL channel.

    Abstract: A communication device includes an antenna configured to receive a signal in a receive band and transmit a signal in a transmit band through a duplexer, analog transmitter-side radio frequency (RF) self-interference cancelation (SIC) circuitry configured to reduce power of the transmit signal in the receive band before input to the antenna, analog receiver-side RF SIC circuitry configured to reduce power of the receive signal in the transmit band before input to a first analog-to-digital converter (ADC) to convert the receive signal from analog to digital, a coupler configured to couple a small part of the transmit signal to a second ADC to convert the transmit signal from analog to digital, and digital SIC circuitry configured to process the digital sample to generate and apply an SIC signal to the digital receive signal to cancel interference induced in the receive signal by the transmit signal.

    Abstract: A method for a transceiver calibration and antenna array operation in a multi-input multi-output (MIMO) system. The method comprises sending a calibration signal and a pre-designed training sequence, via a coupling network, receiving a calibration signal and a pre-designed training sequence that is sent a the transceiver array in a time slotted pattern via a coupling network, generating an Rx calibration measurement (R1) based on one or more uplink signals received via antenna array and the coupling network, generating a Tx calibration measurement (T1) based on receipt of the calibration signal from each of antennas via the coupling network; and performing a joint Tx/Rx (TRx) calibration based on HR, R1, and T1, where H is a channel response in air interface, R is a channel response of receivers in transceiver array.

    Abstract: A base station configured to perform a method for self-interference cancelation (SIC) is provided. The method includes transmitting, by a transceiver configured to transmit an uplink channel and a downlink channel concurrently, one or more signals, the transceiver coupled to, or including, a first number of transmit antennas and a second number of receive antennas. The method also includes, for at least one receive antenna of the second number of receive antennas, applying a forward path model including a non-linear component corresponding to a transmit path in the transceiver, and applying an equalizer function to a first signal to be transmitted by at least one transmit antenna of the first number of transmit antennas determine a self-interference (SI) estimate; and subtracting, in SIC circuitry, the SI estimate from the signal received via at least one receive antenna of the second number of receive antennas to obtain an residual signal.
