    Abstract: A method for managing mobility in a wireless communication system includes determining an initial mobility management configuration for a user equipment (UE) in a serving cell based on cell configuration information. The method also includes identifying a current context of the UE based on reports received from the UE. The method further includes determining an updated mobility management configuration for the UE based on the current context of the UE. Additionally, the method includes transmitting a configuration message to update the UE with the updated mobility management configuration. The method also includes determining whether to trigger a handover of the UE based on comparison of the serving cell and neighbor cell measurements with thresholds. The method further includes triggering the handover based on the updated mobility management configuration.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus in a wireless communication system is provided. The method and apparatus comprises: identifying a virtual tracking area (VTA) to tracking area (TA) (VTA-TA) mapping information indicating mappings between (i) TA identifiers (TAIs) associated with a non-terrestrial network (NTN) entity and (ii) VTAs associated with geographical areas as a function of time; identifying one or more TAIs at an instant or during a time period based on the VTA-TA mapping information; transmitting a radio resource control (RRC) request message including the one or more TAIs; and receiving an RRC response message corresponding to the RRC request message based on the one or more TAIs. The RRC response message includes a virtual registration area (VRA).

The apparatus and method comprises: identifying a non-terrestrial network (NTN) type associated with an NTN; configuring a set of operational parameters for performing wireless communication based on the NTN type; identifying, based on a network configuration associated with the NTN, one or more interfaces to transmit information indicating the NTN type; and transmitting, to a user equipment (UE) or a network function (NF), the information indicating the NTN type via the identified one or more interfaces.
