The environment of the cab may be maintained by a heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) system that will provide cool air to the cab in hot weather and warm air to the cab in colder weather. The HVAC system will have its own specific air heating and cooling components. The HVAC has a supply to the cab for providing the cool or warm air depending on the need. A siphon or alternative point of distribution of the HVAC output may be a HVAC diversion line that leads into the inlet of the turbocharger or supercharger of the vehicle engine to mix with ambient air entering the turbocharger. In an alternative embodiment, a compressed air source may be bled into the turbocharger or supercharger inlet.

    摘要: An engine or radiator mounting sub-system comprised generally of an engine or radiator frame cross piece that is assembled to the engine or radiator off of the assembly line of a mobile vehicle. The off-line assembly allows the engine mounts to be preloaded prior to assembly. The engine or radiator and frame cross piece module may be lowered into the chassis on an assembly line for final fastener engagement that comes through the side or top of the frame rails. In one embodiment, the frame cross piece has an end bracket on each end that allows the lowering in of the engine or radiator into exact forward and aft placement on the respective frame rails. There may be frame rail brackets that have ‘L’ shaped ends. Where these ‘L’ brackets are used, the length of the frame cross piece including the ‘L’ brackets out to the outer vertical face will closely approximate the width between the rails. During vehicle manufacture, the frame crosspiece would be installed to the engine or radiator. The engine or radiator and frame cross piece combination would be moved to the chassis on an assembly line. The horizontal portion of the ‘L’ brackets will rest on the upper surfaces of the frame rail. The final engagement or bolt up would occur to and through the top and or side of the frame rails.

    摘要: A proactive cooling system and method improve the cooling of a motor vehicle apparatus, such as an engine or transmission, in a motor vehicle. The proactive cooling system boosts the primary cooling system connected to the motor vehicle apparatus by using an electronic controller, an information collecting module for collecting information related to the operation of the motor vehicle and an auxiliary cooling system. The auxiliary cooling system uses a power supply and a secondary cooling system in fluid communication with the primary cooling system. The power supply turns on the secondary cooling system by activating an activator and a secondary pump. The activator opens a bypass circuit to divert coolant from the primary cooling system into the secondary cooling system where the diverted coolant is cooled in a secondary heat exchanger. A secondary pump circulates the coolant through the bypass circuit and back to the primary cooling system.

Preferably, the mount includes a bottom and top isolator and a cross member that can be assembled and secured to the engine at an assembly station away from the primary assembly line. The cross member includes frame mounting surfaces that are vertically oriented at each side of the cross member, and the frame includes corresponding engine mounting surfaces. A receiver with a downward facing surface is also provided that is attached to the cross member. A stop support that is attached to the vehicle frame supports the weight of the engine with an upward facing support surface that abuts the receiver support surface.

    摘要: An radiator and charge-air-cooling package made up of two air cooled heat exchangers: a radiator and a charge-air-cooler, the heat exchangers being attached to one another directly or indirectly and then attachable to a chassis or body of the vehicle. The two heat exchangers are both longer than wide with each having center cooling areas. Each heat exchanger has cooling cores in which their coolant flows. Air passes across these cooling cores when the vehicle moves to cool the coolant. The long sides of each of the heat exchangers are geometrically out of synch with the other. With the center cooling areas of each of the heat exchangers overlapping each other, at least one end of each heat exchanger may be unfettered by air flow the other heat exchanger.

    摘要: A flexible seal with a tree insert on the lower portion of the seal that is pushed without tools into a continuous slot or a series of slots that are spaced along the flat mounting surface. When the seal is mounted adjacent to an edge of a panel or surface, a retaining clip feature can be added along with the tree insert to aid in retaining the seal during the open and close cycle or compression and un-compressed state. There is an upper seal portion engaged to a lower portion. This upper portion is made of a material of a different flexibility than the lower portion. In one embodiment, the lower portion with the tree and the retaining clip, if used, is made of a dense rubber and the upper portion is a cellular sponge. The seal may be used to seal the space between the top of a vehicle radiator module and the hood of the vehicle to thereby prevent recirculation flow around the radiator.

    摘要: A cooling module mounting system and method of mounting the package to a vehicle is described. A chassis cross member for providing vertical support to the cooling package is sub-assembled to the cooling module separate from the vehicle where the two mounting surfaces can be held parallel to one another eliminating the possibility of unevenly preloading the isolator. Then this pre-assembled isolated system can be mounted on the truck chassis without changing the relationship of the compressed isolator when the module is bolted down during truck assembly. This system eliminates the fore aft adjustment variability allowing for more control over the static location and isolator compression of the cooling module in the truck. The stay rods used eliminate variation in the rod isolator compression during mounting. The stay rod also allows for controlled multi-axial movement with a mounting centerline perpendicular to the input loads.
