A medium access control method and apparatus and program storage device in a CSMA/CA (Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance) based wireless LAN (Local Area Network) classifies stations in a CSMA/CA based wireless LAN system into a number of groups according to a transmission priority to assign a different DIFS (Distributed Coordination Function InterFrame Space) to each group. Different and fixed back-off times are assigned to stations that belong to the same priority group according to the transmission priority, and the back-off time is reset to the back-off time that each station has been assigned for every re-transmission contention, to guarantee a transmission opportunity to the station with the higher transmission priority in the same priority group, and to guarantee a transmission opportunity to the station with the higher transmission priority irrespective of the number of stations that wish to make a transmission, and to reduce a chance of collision so as not to degrade a throughput since the waiting time of each station is different.

An uplink signal receiving method and apparatus using successive interference cancellation (SIC) in a wireless transmission system based on Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) are provided. The uplink signal receiving method includes storing in a provisional storage each uplink intermediate frequency (IF) signal received through an antenna of a base station and subjected to analog-to-digital conversion; analyzing the uplink IF signals stored in the provisional storage and determining a terminal to be restored; converting a data symbol of the determined terminal to be restored from a time domain into a frequency domain; performing channel/phase correction on the converted data symbol; demodulating the corrected data symbol; determining if there is a terminal to be restored; and when there is a terminal to be restored, removing the demodulated data symbol of the terminal to be restored from the temporarily stored uplink IF signals and then updating the uplink IF signals; thereby, to reducing interference between sub-carriers of the terminals caused by deviation of a center frequency of the sub-carriers of terminals constituting the uplink signal in the OFDMA-based wireless transmission system.

Disclosed is an apparatus and method for compensating for frequency offset in a wireless communication system using an OFDM system which can compensate for phase change due to carrier frequency offset and sampling frequency offset of data carried on subcarriers. The apparatus includes an FFT window adjustment unit for receiving sampling data when a packet is received, setting a start point of a FFT window at a start point of long training symbols and adjusting a position of the FFT window according to an input window adjustment value, an FFT unit for receiving an output of the FFT window adjustment unit, transforming time-domain symbols into frequency-domain symbols and calculating FFT coefficients, a channel estimation unit for receiving the coefficients from the FFT unit, estimating a channel state and outputting a value for compensating for an estimated value, a channel compensation unit for compensating for the frequency-domain symbols using the output of the channel estimation unit and a phase error tracking and correction unit for receiving an output of the channel compensation unit, detecting a sampling frequency offset and a phase change of a carrier signal and outputting the window adjustment value to the FFT window adjustment unit.

An apparatus and method for reducing inter-subcarrier interference (ICI) in an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) system are provided. The method includes determining a correction frequency from uplink intermediate frequency (IF) signals subjected to analog-to-digital conversion when an uplink radio frequency (RF) signal is input through an antenna of a base station and each uplink IF signal (I(n)+j1(n)) is input,; and correcting the uplink IF signal so as to correspond to the determined correction frequency. Thereby, it is possible to reduce the ICI of each terminal caused by mismatching of the interval of the inter-subcarrier center frequency of each terminal that constitutes the uplink signal in the OFDMA system.
