摘要： A liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate disposed on a viewer side relative to the first substrate, a liquid crystal layer provided between the first substrate and the second substrate, a polarizer disposed on the viewer side relative to the liquid crystal layer, and a phase difference layer disposed between the polarizer and the liquid crystal layer, and also includes a plurality of pixels arrayed in a matrix shape. The first substrate includes a reflective layer that reflects light, a first electrode and a second electrode that can generate a transverse electrical field in the liquid crystal layer, and a first horizontal alignment film in contact with the liquid crystal layer. The second substrate includes a second horizontal alignment film in contact with the liquid crystal layer. The liquid crystal layer takes a twist alignment when no voltage is applied.

摘要： A liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate disposed more to a viewer side than the first substrate, and a liquid crystal layer provided between the first substrate and the second substrate, with a plurality of pixels being arrayed in a matrix shape. Each pixel includes a reflective region for display in a reflection mode. The first substrate includes a thin film transistor provided corresponding to each pixel, a pixel electrode electrically connected to the thin film transistor, and a reflective layer located at least in the reflective region. The first substrate further includes a common electrode adjacent to the pixel electrode with a dielectric layer interposed between the pixel electrode and the common electrode. At least one from among the pixel electrode and the common electrode includes at least one slit.

摘要： Provided is a liquid crystal display device that can achieve high-speed response in both rise time and fall time and has a high transmittance, a high contrast ratio, and excellent viewing angle characteristics. The liquid crystal display device provides color display using a field sequential driving system where each frame period includes subframe periods and includes: a liquid crystal display panel; a light source that irradiates the liquid crystal display panel with lights of multiple colors; and a controller that drives the light source to time-divisionally irradiate the liquid crystal display panel with the lights of multiple colors. The liquid crystal display panel includes, sequentially in the following order: a first substrate including pixel electrodes; a first alignment film; a liquid crystal layer; a second alignment film; and a second substrate including a common electrode.
