Abstract: A lighting device 10 includes light sources 17, a light source board 18, and a casing 13. The light source board 18 includes a board body portion 18a having a substantially circular outer edge where the light sources 17 are arranged at intervals in a substantially annular shape such that each light source 17 emits light toward a center, an extended portion 18b extending inward from the board body portion 18a, and a trace portion 19 electrically connected to each light source 17 and disposed in an area from the board body portion 18a to the extended portion 18b such that an end of the trace portion 19 is arranged at a distal end of the extended portion 18b. The casing 13 includes a tubular-shaped side wall portion 13b surrounding the light sources 17, and a bottom portion 13a disposed opposite the board body portion 18a and having an exit hole 13a1 therethrough through which the extended portion 18b is inserted and the distal end 18b1 of the extended portion 18b is extended outside.

Abstract: A backlight unit includes LEDs, a light guide plate, a prism sheet, exiting light reflecting portions, prisms, concave lenticular lens lenses, and flat portions. The concave lenticular lenses are configured such that an occupancy rate of concave cylindrical lenses with respect to the second direction is higher in an area closer to a light entering surface with respect to the first direction and the occupancy rate is lower in an area farther from the light entering surface. The flat portions are formed adjacent to the concave cylindrical lenses with respect to the second direction such that an occupancy rate of flat portions with respect to the second direction is lower in an area closer to a light entering surface with respect to the first direction and the occupancy rate of the flat portions with respect to the second direction is higher in an area farther from the light entering surface.

Abstract: A backlight unit includes a lightguide, a light source that emits light to the lightguide, and a barrier layer positioned over the lightguide in a light emitting direction relative to the lightguide. The barrier layer defines a bezel area of the backlight unit, and an active area of the backlight unit from which light is emitted from the lightguide is an area adjacent to a boundary of the bezel area. Abstract: Provided is a technique for controlling the hue of an image when the image is displayed on a display panel so that the image should not be displayed with a hue different from the actual hue. The display device includes a display panel that includes an active matrix substrate 11a and a counter substrate 11b, and a reflection unit 12. The active matrix substrate 11a includes gate lines and source lines 24, and includes a plurality of pixel areas that are defined by the gate lines and the source lines 24. The counter substrate 11b includes color filters 31R, 31G, 31B of R, G, B at positions corresponding to the pixel areas. The reflection unit 12 transmits light from the light source 14, and reflects light from the active matrix substrate 11a. The pixel areas of R, G, B have reflection areas that reflect light from the reflection unit 12 so that the respective amounts of light outgoing from the above-described pixel areas are approximately uniform.
