摘要: Embodiments of the invention provide a method for setting a light source parameter in order to recognize an identification mark on an object surface. In one embodiment, a grayscale image is generated by setting the light volume of the light source to a given value. Plural thresholds each for binarizing the grayscale image in density are set. The inter-class variance values to be produced respectively according to the thresholds are calculated and the largest inter-class variance value is selected as the peak inter-class variance value from the inter-class variance values calculated. The light volume is changed to a plurality of different values. Peak inter-class variance values are obtained respectively for the values and the largest peak inter-class variance value is selected as the maximum inter-class variance value from the peak inter-class variance values obtained. The object surface is irradiated by the light source whose light volume is set to a value which would give the maximum inter-class variance value.

摘要: Embodiments in accordance with the present invention provide a magnetic head assembly in which a slider can be removed with deformation of a suspension suppressed and the posture angle of a magnetic head can be maintained stably, and a magnetic disk drive mounted with the magnetic head assembly. A head gimbal assembly (HGA) according to an embodiment includes a suspension, a magnetic head slider provided with a magnetic head element section, and gimbal retaining the slider and connected to the suspension. The gimbal includes a spacer formed around a conductive adhesive application area. A nonconductive adhesive application area having a planar dimension not larger than that of the conductive adhesive application area is formed outside the slider. The gimbal and the slider are brought into conduction through a conductive adhesive applied to the conductive adhesive application area and are adhered to each other with a nonconductive adhesive applied to the nonconductive adhesive application area.

摘要: A method and apparatus for the direct heat treatment of a medium- to high-carbon steel rod in which the formation of martensite is prevented, even if the starting billet contains segregation. A hot-rolled rod is transported on a conveyor in the form of a sequence of non-concentric rings. The rod is then subjected to controlled cooling in a coolant so that the greater part of any austenite in the entire length of the rod is substantially uniformly transformed to a fine pearlite structure. The sequence of non-concentric rings of the rod is next held at a temperature of 450.degree.-630.degree. C. for a period of 60-300 seconds, with the pitch between each ring being made smaller than at the inlet of the conveyor. Accordingly, a pearlite transformation is effected of any residual austenite.

摘要: The acoustic signal transmission method is based on generating a synthesized sound electrical signal by electrically synthesizing an audible sound signal and another signal different than the audible sound signal at the sending side, and transmitting the synthesized sound electrical signal, and extracting the another signal different than the audible sound signal from the synthesized sound electrical signal at the receiving side. Here, generation of the synthesized sound electrical signal is made by using a data hiding technique, for example. Accordingly, the acoustic signal represented by the synthesized sound electrical signal can be heard by human ears in the same way as the audible sound signal, and the synthesized another signal cannot be detected by human ears. Here, the synthesized sound electrical signal can be transmitted as a sound wave in air space, as electrical signal through a transmission line or as radio signals such as infrared and electromagnetic waves.
