    摘要: The invention pertains to a polyarylether sulfone polymer [polymer (PAES)] incorporating recurring units derived from well-defined amount of bi- or poly-functional monomers having identical functionalities in each of their reactive groups in a chain of units derived from of a monohalo-monohydroxyl arylsulfone monomer comprising groups of formula (A), free from hydroxyl groups which are bound to a phenyl ring comprising an activating —SO2— group in para-position, while comprising an activated aromatic halogen bound to a phenyl ring comprising an activating —SO2— group in para-position, having improved balance between mechanical properties and viscosity in the molten state, and endowed by lower polydispersity indexes with respect to materials of the prior art, to a method for making the same, to polymer compositions comprising the same, and to shaped articles therefrom.

    摘要: Described herein are polyamide polymer blends including a sulfonated polyamide polymer, an aromatic polyamide polymer and a reinforcing filler. Optionally, the polyamide polymer blend includes an additive. It was surprisingly discovered that blends including a sulfonated polyamide polymer in addition to an aromatic polyamide polymer had increased mechanical performance, relative to corresponding polyamide polymer blends having a non-sulfonated polyamide polymer. Furthermore, it was also surprisingly discovered that, when the sulfonated polyamide polymer included a sodium counter-ion, the mechanical performance of the polyamide polymer blend was further enhanced, relative to corresponding polyamide polymer blends having a sulfonated polyamide polymer including a lithium counter-ion in place of a sodium counter-ion. Due, at least in part, to the increased mechanical performance, the polyamide polymer blends can be desirably incorporated into structural components, which generally benefit from higher mechanical performance.

    摘要: Methods of cross-linking or chain extending a polymeric material including a silane-modified poly(arylene ether) polymer (Si-PAE) in a shaped article include heating the shaped article from a temperature T1 to a temperature T2>T1, while maintaining the temperature at which the shaped article is heated within a specified range based on the increasing Tg of the polymeric material during the heating. Shaped articles cross-linked or chain extended by the methods are also described.
