A plurality of payload messages is communicated on a radio link of a cellular network between a terminal and an access node of the cellular network. Each one of the plurality of payload messages includes a data packet encoded according to a given redundancy version. The number of the plurality of payload messages may be dynamically and flexibly adjusted in some embodiments. Examples are given which may be applied for coverage enhancement in the Internet of Things or Machine Type Communication domain.

The invention is directed to systems, methods, and computer program products for determining timing relationships of pilot and data in mobile network communications. Specifically, an uplink (UL) transmission is received at a base station (BS) from a user equipment (UE) in network communication with the BS via a communication channel. Based on the UL transmission, a channel coherence time is determined indicating a period of time during which the communication channel is considered to be substantially unchanged. In response, a total transmission duration is determined based on the channel coherence time indicating a period of time associated with transmission of a data frame.
Abstract:
Apparatus, systems, and methods are disclosed for determining dynamic positioning of mobile cells. Dynamic positioning provides for navigating a mobile cell, such as an unmanned aerial vehicle or the like, to a location suitable for offloading current network traffic, such that the suitable location maximizes offloading capabilities. The methodology describes takes into account both the current traffic load on the network and the location of the highest system capacity-intensive mobile terminals in determining an initial position for deploying the mobile cell. Additionally, the location of the deployed mobile cell is optimized, over time, based on tracking the direction of movement of the highest capacity-intensive mobile terminals, and, in some embodiments, service quality indicators provided by the mobile terminals and/or contextual information captured by the mobile cell apparatus.

Methods of operating an electronic device are provided. A method of operating a first electronic device includes listening for a wireless transmission by a second electronic device on a wireless communications channel The method includes determining whether a packet is a particular type of packet. The method includes assigning a randomized time delay value that defines a randomized delay period, in response to determining that the packet is the particular type of packet. The method includes beginning the randomized delay period in response to determining that the wireless communications channel is clear. Moreover, the method includes transmitting the packet via the wireless communications channel based on expiration of the randomized delay period.
