A configuration specification is created based on the source virtual environment and the guest to be copied. The target virtual environment is examined to determine whether it is compliant with the copied configuration specification. If so, the copied guest runs in the target virtual environment. If not, the target virtual environment can be modified to be in compliance with the configuration specification.
