    摘要: A charger is provided that includes an improved contact for holding a flashlight and electrically connecting to a charging contact of the flashlight. The charger includes an area for receiving the head of a flashlight, and an area for receiving the barrel of a flashlight. The contact is disposed about the area for receiving the barrel. The contact is deflectable and includes portions that expand and mate with the charging contact of the flashlight to hold the flashlight in place while electrically connecting to the charging contact for supplying electrical energy to a rechargeable battery contained in the flashlight.

    摘要: A portable lighting device and method of operating the portable lighting device are disclosed. The portable lighting device is configured to operate using a portable source of power having a plurality of modes of operation. The portable lighting device comprises a main power circuit including a light source, an inertial sensor having a plurality of signal outputs, and a controller electrically connected to the outputs of the inertial sensor and the main power circuit in a manner to permit the controller to enter into a new mode of operation based on signals received from the outputs of the inertial sensor. One method of operating the portable lighting device is by positioning the portable lighting device to one of a plurality of predetermined positions to enter into one of a plurality of modes of operation. Each of the plurality of predetermined positions is associated with one of the plurality of modes of operation.

A rechargeable battery pack is disclosed that includes a housing, a rechargeable battery, and an accelerometer. A battery cassette is disclosed that provides a negative electrode at each end of the battery cassette, and a central connector that provides a positive electrode at both ends of the battery cassette.

The combination includes a reflector, a lamp bulb having a substantial point source of light, and a movable lamp bulb holder. The movable holder may be moved using an actuating member. The reflector has a first open end for emitting a light beam, a second end and an axis extending between the first and second reflector ends. The lamp bulb is secured to the movable holder and is disposed about the second end of the reflector. The actuating member is operatively coupled to the movable holder at an actuation interface for moving the substantial point source of light relative to the axis of the reflector and aligning the substantial point source of light with the reflector axis and the focal point of the reflector. Flashlights employing the combination are provided.

    摘要: A flashlight having features that align the light source of a lamp with the principal axis of a reflector, such flashlight having a head assembly that includes a reflector and a lens. The reflector has a central opening that surrounds the principal axis of the reflector. The light source of the flashlight is held by a lamp base and an axis of the lamp base is aligned with the light source. Particularly, the hottest portion of the light source may be aligned with the lamp base axis. The self-centering characteristic of the lamp base is configured with a non-cylindrical feature to be seated in a base receiver. The base receiver includes a receiver axis that is aligned with the principal axis of the reflector. The lamp can include a pair of electrodes and a filament light source extending between the electrodes.
