    摘要: Provided are a method and apparatus for improving the quality of an image output from a decoder by reducing an accumulated error between an original frame available at an encoder and a reconstructed frame available at a decoder caused by quantization for scalable video coding supporting temporal scaling. A scalable video encoder includes a motion estimation unit that performs motion estimation on the current frame using one of previous reconstructed frames stored in a buffer as a reference frame and determines motion vectors, a temporal filtering unit that removes temporal redundancy from the current frame using the motion vectors, a quantizer that quantizes the current frame from which the temporal redundancy has been removed, and a closed-loop filtering unit that performs decoding on the quantized coefficient to create a reconstructed frame and provides the reconstructed frame as a reference for subsequent motion estimation. A closed-loop optimisation algorithm can be used in scalable video coding, thereby reducing an accumulated error introduced by quantization while alleviating an image drift problem.

    摘要: A method for constructing and searching an improved Huffman table which is capable of improving the efficiency over an existing Huffman table in a decoding method and apparatus using a Huffman code. The method includes creating an improved Huffman table including an increment of a Huffman code length and the number of times Huffman code lengths repeats; generating a new bit string by extracting bits by the increment of the Huffman code length and adding the extracted bits to the end of a previous bit string; and reading values of corresponding codes by the number of times Huffman code length repeats from the improved Huffman table and determining whether values identical to a value of the new bit string are present. According to the present invention, unnecessary consumption of system resources can be reduced by decreasing the number of times search and comparison routines of Huffman codes are used.

    摘要: A multimedia content conversion apparatus and method, and a multimedia content distribution system are provided. The apparatus includes a storage unit storing original data received from a multimedia content provider, an authentication unit determining whether a viewer is authorized with respect to the original data stored in the storage unit, a decryptor decrypting the original data if it is determined by the authentication unit that the viewer is authorized, and a data combiner combining the original data and the data decrypted by the decryptor. Accordingly, even if several TVs are installed in a home, a viewer can view desired multimedia content through all of the TVs with only one content conversion apparatus. Even when the viewer watches a TV in which the content conversion apparatus is not included, the viewer can view desired multimedia content by changing a channel of a TV which includes the content conversion apparatus. Since the content conversion apparatus provides content of various image standards, the viewer can view desired content regardless of a type of TV being used.

    摘要: Provided is a method of sharing content to which digital rights management (DRM) is applied. In the method of sharing the content between a first device storing the content and a second device while they are connected, the first device receives a request for transmission of the content from the second device, determines whether it is connected to the second device and generates license information regarding the DRM, and transmits the license information and the content to the second device. Accordingly, content to which DRM is applied can be shared between a plurality of devices only when they are connected, thereby removing a need to redundantly purchase the DRM content and allowing the content to be conveniently shared. Also, since the content can be shared when the devices are physically connected, degradation of the quality of sound or interruptions can be minimized.
