    摘要: In a liquid crystal display (LCD) apparatus employing an impulsive driving method, a timing control part outputs a first control signal and a second control signal in response to a timing control signal. A data driving part provides a display panel with a first data signal in response to the first control signal during a first period and a second data signal in response to the first control signal during a second period. A gate driving part provides the display panel with a gate signal in response to the second control signal, the gate signal having a first gate pulse corresponding to the second period and a second gate pulse corresponding to the first period. The period in which the first gate pulse is applied is extended to a portion of the first period. Thus, a charging rate of the second data signal may be increased, so that the display quality of the LCD apparatus may be improved.

    摘要: A method of controlling the backlight assembly of a display apparatus according to the ambient light level is presented. When there is sufficient ambient light to achieve a desired level of brightness in a display apparatus, the backlight assembly is turned off to conserve power. On the other hand, when the amount of ambient light is insufficient for achieving the desired brightness level, the backlight assembly is turned on to supplement the ambient light so that the display apparatus will provide the desired brightness level regardless of the amount of ambient light. In some embodiments, the intensity of the light emitted by the backlight assembly is adjusted according to the ambient light level. Optionally, the display apparatus is switched between transmissive mode and reflective mode depending on the ambient light level. The voltage applied to the display panel is adjusted depending on the operational mode.

    摘要: In a display apparatus, a data driver converts a first group of image data into a first data voltage based on a first gamma reference voltage during a first period and converts a second group of the image data into a second data voltage based on a second gamma reference voltage during the first period. The data driver converts the first group into the second image voltage during a second period and converts the second group into the first data voltage during the second period. First and second pixel groups receive the first and second data voltages to display first and second gray-scale images, respectively, during the first period, and receive the second and first data voltages to display the second and first gray-scale images, respectively, during the second period. Thus, display quality and viewing angle characteristic of the display apparatus are improved and flicker is prevented.

    摘要: An electrophoretic display (“EPD”) panel includes a display substrate and an electrophoretic film. The display substrate includes a display switching element electrically connected to a display gate line and a data line crossing the display gate line, a pixel electrode electrically connected to the display switching element, and a sensing switching element electrically connected to a sensing gate line and the data line to detect a light quantity. The electrophoretic film is combined with the display substrate. The electrophoretic film includes a plurality of charged particles. Thus, a bias signal of the sensing switching element is delivered through the data line applying the data signal, so that a manufacturing process of the EPD panel may be simplified.
