A charge generating layer for an electrophotographic imaging member is provided containing trigonal selenium and phthalocyanine photoconductive particles dispersed in a film forming polymer binder. The film forming polymer binder may be a styrene butadiene copolymer having a weight percent styrene to butadiene content of about 85:15 to about 95:5 and a glass transition temperature range of about 50.degree. C. to about 60.degree. C. A process for producing the homogeneous dispersion of photoconductive particles includes separately milling the trigonal selenium particles and the phthalocyanine particles to approprite particle sizes, and dispersing the separately milled particles in the film forming polymer binder.

A process for preparing an electrophotographic imaging member comprising providing a photogenerating layer on a supporting substrate and applying a charge transport layer forming mixture to the photogenerating layer, the charge transport layer forming mixture comprising a charge transporting aromatic amine compound of one or more compounds having the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are an aromatic group selected from the group consisting of a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl group, naphthyl group, and polyphenyl group and R.sup.3 is selected from the group consisting of a substituted or unsubstituted aryl, and alkyl group having from 1 to 18 carbon atoms and cycloaliphatic group having from 3 to 12 carbon atoms, a polymeric film forming resin in which the aromatic amine is soluble, solvent for the polymeric film forming resin, and from about 1 part per million to about 10,000 parts per million, based on the weight of the aromatic amine, of a protonic acid or Lewis acid having a boiling point greater than about 40.degree. An imaging member is disclosed which includes a charge generating layer and a charge transport layer. The charge transport layer includes a first charge transport layer adjacent the charge generating layer and at least a second charge transport layer adjacent the first charge transport layer. Each charge transport layer includes a film forming polymer binder and a charge transport material dispersed therein. The first charge transport material has a composition which is the same or different than the second charge transport material and of a lower concentration. It may be selected from an aryl amine, aryl diamine, or combinations thereof. The combination has the effect of reducing charge deficient spots.
