The solid, form-stable gel for hair treatment contains an aqueous or aqueous-alcoholic base; from 0.5 to less than 2 percent by weight of a carrageenan or a mixture of carrageenans and at least one carrageenan-amount-reducing additive selected from the group consisting of hair fixing polymers, amphiphilic associative thickeners, monoalcohols with 1 to 5 carbon atoms and polyalcohols with 2 to 5 carbon atoms. The carrageenan or mixture of carrageenans and the at least one additive are contained in the gel in respective amounts so that the gel is solid and form-stable, i.e. has a resistance of at least 0.15 N to a compressive force applied at 2000 and 65% relative humidity by means of an 8 mm diameter cylindrical piston that is depressed at a rate of 0.5 mm/s until a compression depth of 1 mm is reached after which the piston is removed at a rate of 0.5 mm/s.

Disclosed is a method for achieving a recallable hair deformation. A composition is applied onto hair, comprising at least one first active principle or active complex, which, alone or in combination with further compounds, is able, after application to the hair and after carrying out the treatment of hair in accordance with the present invention, to provide a shape memory effect. The composition comprises at least one second active principle, which is a cationic agent. The hair is brought into a defined (permanent) shape and the permanent shape is subsequently fixed by means of inducing a chemical or physical change of the applied agents, wherein after a desired or undesired deformation, the memory shape of the initial memory shape may be recovered by means of a physical stimulation. In addition to the permanent hairdo, a second (temporary) shape can be impressed. Furthermore, disclosed is a method for the recovery of a once programmed permanent hairdo, which has been brought into a temporary shape or which has been deformed in any other way.

A hair-treatment agent is described with a content of a combination of a terpolymer constructed from vinylpyrrolidone, methacrylamide and vinylimidazole, and at least one active ingredient or additive chosen from viscosity-modifying substances, haircare substances, hair-setting substances, silicone compounds, photoprotective substances, oils, waxes, preservatives, pigments, soluble dyes, particulate substances, and surfactants in a suitable cosmetic base. The hair-treatment agent can be in the form of a gel, a viscous lotion, a spray gel, an O/W emulsion, a W/O emulsion, a microemulsion, a hair spray, a foamable product in combination with a device for foaming, or in the form of a hair wax. Preference is given to products which are foamable with a propellant in which the active ingredient or additive is chosen from chitosan, chitosan salts, chitosan derivatives, cationic cellulose compounds and copolymers of vinylpyrrolidone, vinylcaprolactam and a basic acrylamide monomer.
