Abstract:
A liquid crystal, particularly a ferroelectric liquid crystal, is interposed between an electroconductive member and an electric charge accepting member to form a liquid crystal device. In the first step of image formation, a uniform polarity of charge is imparted to the entirety or a part of the electric charge accepting member whereby the liquid crystal is uniformly oriented to its first stable state under a uniform electric field thus formed therethrough. In the second step, the reverse polarity of charges are given imagewise to the charge accepting member, whereby the liquid crystal is reoriented imagewise to the second stable state to form an image.

An ion generating device includes a plurality of first electrodes extending in a first direction; a plurality of second electrodes extending in the second direction which is different from the first direction, to constitute a matrix; a third electrode so disposed that the second electrodes lie between the first electrodes and the third electrode, the third electrode having apertures corresponding to the matrix; a first dielectric member disposed between the first electrodes and the second electrodes; a second dielectric member disposed between the second electrodes and third electrode, the second dielectric member having a plurality of apertures corresponding to the matrix, which apertures each have a cross-sectional area generally increasing toward the third electrode. A method of manufacturing the same including the steps of providing an assembly constituted by the first electrodes, the second electrodes and the first dielectric member interposed therebetween; bonding a dielectric sheet to the second electrodes and bonding a conductive sheet to the dielectric sheet; forming apertures corresponding to the matrix in the conductive sheet to form the third electrode; and etching the dielectric sheet with the conductive sheet having the apertures functioning as a resist to form apertures in the dielectric sheet to provide the second dielectric member.
Abstract:
A novel image recording system using particulate developer. The particulate developer is accumulated in a container. A developer carrying member is disposed movably in contact with the accumulated developer. At the position where the particulate developer is to be flowed out from the container onto the carrying member there is provided a gate member. An important feature of the invention resides in the function of this gate member. To the gate member is given an action force which normally intends to block the flow of the developer from the container to the carrying member. Only when a record of image is formed, the developer is imagewisely put on the carrying member against the blocking force thereby forming a recorded image on the carrying member at the downstream side of the gate member.
Abstract:
An electrophotographic method by the use of a photosensitive screen having a number of tiny openings therein and by modulation of corona ion current, wherein a primary electrostatic latent image is first formed on the screen by application of electrostatic charge in conformity to an original image to be reproduced, thus a secondary electrostatic latent image is formed by modulating corona ion current for a plurality of times by the use of one and the same primary electrostatic latent image, and applying to the screen, alternately with the corona ion modulation, a corona ion current of a polarity capable of eliminating the charge polarity of the modulating corona ion current.
Abstract:
This invention provides an electrophotographic process for forming an image using a photosensitive screen having a plurality of fine openings. The screen has a conductive material on which a photoconductive material is provided, wherein at least a part of the conductive material remains exposed. The peripheries of the openings of the screen are capable of retaining charges as a result of an image exposure to form a primary electrostatic latent image on the screen.
